Major changes coming to KSCS?

I hear there are about to be a few changes over there - wait - some major changes.

Promotions? - out!
Morning host or co-host? out!

why pay for it when its meaningless and terrible? Its like their promotions is a freaking cheerleader camp than no one cares about.

I'm not saying the Wolf is any better - its just that when personalities collide - they get destroyed.

Im not burnt - I'm cooked.

What's going on?

OK, we're talking sacred ground here...THE DORSEY GANG, mind you. What gives? When? Which ones, or all?(I can gue$$ the why.)

If rumors are already stirring about that, wonder what the big plan is for sister WBAP? (Bet I can guess that one, too.) :'( :'( :'(

Can't imagine the changes would be any bigger than when KSCS and The Twister merged. I can't listen to that stuff anymore.

Does anybody out there knows what's happening at KSCS? Because I sure as hell don't.

The talent matters a great deal. Or at least it used to. Management seems to think any monkey can do the job.
Getting rid of The Dorsey Gang would be a huge mistake.

As much as I adore Dorsey, one has to use The Wolf as an example. Blowing out their "heritage morning show" seems to have done them good...

remember I said co-host...

Dorsey might be staying. However - it looks like at a drastic reduced rate - contracts do not mean anything these days. (this makes no sense to me)

As for promotions - that is a lost cause - they are limping along as it is. I hear upper management (Crash) is not happy at all with the present situation. Too much inexperience and "estrogen" running the show. They need a little testosterone in charge of all the cheerleaders. Not creative at all - the Promo Dir is just an order taker and Crash cant keep spewing all the ideas. He probably knows someone who will fill the spot rather quickly.

I have no idea when it will happen - there is a water leak over there and I happen to have a bucket.

I will post more when I know more - until then - keep cooking.

The Wolf went something like 2 years without the "heritage morning show." They blew out Bobby Mitchell after Cumulus took over and replaced him with Smokey Rivers. Tara and Justin didn't get the axe until August of last year.

I mean no disrespect at all to Smokey, but the "heritage morning show" was Bobby, Chris, Tara and Justin.

Smokey definitely qualifies as "heritage" on that station. But the point being that they made big changes that everyone said wouldn't work.

Allrighty, so let's discuss something here. You've got an aging morning show at KSCS. The cast members have been the same for many years. I don't listen to it, but is it still fresh? Is it pulling any decent numbers? Or is the audience "aging" with it, and is no longer in the key demo? Can Citadel break up the group without losing all of them? (Methinks that Kinder got the axe because Dorsey wouldn't let them strip his show of Hawkeye. That's just a guess, but Citadel had no problem killing off Dan Potter from Hal Jay's morning show.) From a corporate viewpoint, it's not just Dorsey who's drawing a high salary. It's Hawkeye, too. And is Rebecca ready to be a duo with Dorsey -OR- Hawkeye, if it comes down to that? I don't know what Brother Van's role is on the morning team, but that's another draw. With my pal Michael Scott now on Metro's payroll, his salary is probably written off under "charitable donations." :(

We've seen the same thing happen with Ron Chapman and Skip Murphy, and they were reassigned to inter-cluster stations that catered more to their "aged" demo after enjoying long careers at the top. But there's no place to channel off any of these KSCS folks. The Twister's gone (which could have been reimaged as an older-skewing country station, while KSCS could have been tweaked more for the 25-39ish crowd, making a nice home at 96.7 for Dorsey's gang AND keeping the stronger signal for the key demo.) If Platinum never becomes a contender in this market, who knows?

Of course, this is all MY conjecture and the last thing I want to see is anyone else in the unemployment line. I'm also just throwing this out there for discussion...I still have friends that work there and I'm not trying to rock anyone's boat. But this is one of the final fallouts that signal the End Of Radio As We Knew It (pre-1996) when your top talent is purged only in the name of money. The listeners no longer have any influence. (Well, they do when they keep listening to a given station DESPITE any negative changes that are made, and accept it on the new terms without as much as a whimper of revolt.) (How do you think voicetracking became the norm?)

Yes, Smokey qualifies as heritage, but he was the heritage midday guy until Bobby Mitchell was let go.

Would be Hawkeye or Rebecca? Hawkeye and Terry have been together forever.

What happened with their promotions department? Arent they the only station left in the market with a full promotions department? I head everyone else on had one promo director over multiple stations? are they not doing a good job with all the "estrogen" in the dept?

You all are very perceptive.

Rebecca is cheap.. they other guy is not. They can keep the girl and bro van and keep the "gang".

The problem Hawkeye has is what will be next for him? Career radio guys dont have much to look forward to in the "private sector" and his dimes hes saved up wont last long.

Always have a plan B kids. A L W A Y S

Their promotion department is one walking high school drama class. Mgmt is sick of it and can get someone better for less $$$... Who needs promotions anyway when the drama overshadows.

I just got an update today - looks like August time frame. POP

I need a burger.

Chris Huff told me that no changes will be made.
