Major Country Star Removed From Radio Playlists

Unfortunately, most of the country audience will be more offended by their radio station's political correctness and cancel culture than by Morgan Wallen's remarks. Country radio will be looking for a way to get past this ASAP and get their well-liked artist back into rotation.

We shouldn't assume there's no cancel culture among so-called conservatives. Ask the Dixie Chicks.

Taylor Swift took a lot of criticism for her political views. Garth Brooks was attacked for performing at Biden's inaugural.

I can list a bunch more.

I'm still waiting for "Not Ready To Make Nice" to be used as a recurrent somewhere, anywhere!

I don't think using a racial slur, particularly the n-word, is a matter of political correctness. But, hey, that's just me.

Apparently Morgan Wallen's music is still surging in popularity. It will be interesting whether country radio resumes playing his songs sooner rather than later.

What's interesting is that both Spotify and Apple said they dropped his songs from their library.

Here's what the BBC says:

Wallen's songs also appear to have been removed from Spotify's Hot Country Songs playlist and Apple Music's equivalent, Today's Country.

Just had it explained that his songs are in the Spotify library but he's been dropped from all of their curated playlists.

Same with Apple, Pandora, and Sirius.

Does this also apply to billionaire Ice T, Nick Conrad and others?
Ice T, at the high end, may be worth $40 to $50 million. There is no way he is a billionaire. Nick Conrad: even less. Perhaps $3 to $4 million or something in that vicinity.
