Major KLOVE expansion in SLC market

KLOVE is now broadcasting on 107.5 fm which places a big signal over the market with a permit to provide a stronger signal into SLC itself. The station had to be divested so KLOVE was able to pick it up for its Christian AC format.

Was it sold to K-LOVE or EMF or whoever runs that network? Or is it just being leased until a buyer is found?

Does Christian Contemporary go over with Latter Day Saints listeners? Or do young adult religious Mormons have their own Religious Contemporary music that isn't connected with a national Christian AC format like K-Love? I know Christian Contemporary isn't on the radar of most Catholics, even if the music and the DJs aren't too specific about their faith.

I seem to remember reading not too long ago that Mormons are now a minority in metro Salt Lake City, if not in the entire state of Utah. However, Mormons aren't much different from anyone else, and Mormons are a denomination of Christianity. Some of them like rock, others prefer country, while others prefer AC and on down the musical spectrum. There's no reason to believe there wouldn't be a market for contemporary Christian music simply because a sizable percentage of the population is Mormon.
 
There are already several outlets for "LDS" Contemporary Christian Music, so it would be interesting to see how this (now, Full Power") station does. Also, I wonder how much crossover there is between the standard CC artists and the LDS artists.
Maybe there's a playlist available for each?
 
There is zero overlap between LDS artists and Contemporary Christian artists, because at least in most places, the LDS church bills itself as the only true church and LDS missionaries try to convert Protestants and Catholics. If you want a good basic overview of the major differences between LDS and Christian doctrine, check out this page.

There have been a few Catholics who have achieved notable success in the mostly Protestant world of CCM, including Rich Mullins and Rachael Lampa.

The term "zero overlap" is definitely a "Generality". True, there are differences between LDS Theology and the other Christian denominations,
but there's differences of opinion/interpretations even among the different "Protestant/Evangelical" groups.

Music is different. If one were to go to a Deseret Book store, one would find artists such as Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith,
and others that cross over too. If one listens to FM-100's Sunday programming, you'll hear a number of "Contemporary Christian" Artists.
Much of "Christian"/Gospel music concerns itself with Love and Praise of the Lord Jesus, Prayer, Following the Spirit, and other based
themes that the transcend Denominational/Doctrine categorizations. There is Much MORE that Followers of Jesus have in "Common"
than they have "In Difference".

That "link" that you posted is typical of the some of the Anti-LDS type rhetoric that comes from some Protestant/Evangelical
perspectives/interpretations. It would be interesting to get an "official" LDS version of what the LDS Believe on those various topics
and make comparison. FAIR.com is a good start.

Back to the music >> I know some LDS people in California who listen to that same K-Love format, that originates in California,
near Sacramento. They like the "positive" message of the music. To them, it beats some other choices on today's radio dial.

There is effort there to give perspective from the LDS point of view
done by LDS members who donate their time to give "perspective".

I still state my case that Gospel/Christian, much of the time, focuses
more on Generally held IN COMMON themes than being Denominational/Doctrine
Specific.

The K-Love stations in California and elsewhere generally aren't at the Top
of the ratings, BUT they do have a Loyal followings and live off telethon
 
I'm a Mormon who listens to K-Love. I was surprised at how many songs which I thought were originally LDS were actually just remakes of Contemporary Christian songs. There is no station, other than K-Love, in Utah that I'm aware of that plays Christian music 7 days a week. So I think as people hear about the station it will do really well. In my opinion Mormons are the perfect target for such a station. There are very rare times when a song has a phrase that doesn't quite fit LDS doctrine. The overwhelming majority as Radio Owl said is common ground.
