Major layoffs are coming to radio within months

Jerry Del Colliano in his Inside Music Media says:

"Major layoffs are coming to radio within months. I’ve had a strong record of predicting cutbacks and firings over the years and now it’s time to warn you about what’s next. I’m hearing increased chatter that the two largest employers – Clear Channel and Cumulus – are getting set for what will turn out to be a major dilution of its workforce over the next couple of months. What I’m talking about is massive and, when completed, will help owners attain their goal of nationalizing local radio."

And this is different from the three giant RIFs Clear Channel has already done over the past few years and the huge wave of layoffs Cumulus generated when it took over the Citadel stations how?

Jerry loves to speak in abstracts and is great at the art of the tease on his splash page so he can get people to subscribe to his blog. I doubt there's anything new here; if anything, the trend of layoffs, voicetracking and syndication (including Premium Choice) that's already been established will continue... sadly, that's not new news, that's just the way things are now.

this is so sad. the trend of radio over the past decade has been aweful! i hope those suits are happy with themselves making radio the absolute worst that it could ever be!

thank you for ruining a great industry!!!!
