Major Music Changes at Q101

Anyone else notice the substantial rotation changes at Q101?

As of this week, the station has dropped many of the obscure stiffs it had been playing.

I suspect the music snobs will be upset, but from a ratings standpoint, I believe these changes were long overdue. The pseudo-indie sound the station had was NOT working.

The station still plays plenty of Gold, but now that Gold is predominantly stuff from recognizable artists that have relatively mass appeal.

Smell that? It's desperation in the air. Smells just like flop sweat.

Is Chicago ready for "Fresh 101" or the "Lonestar" country/rock hybred?

Who's left to blame? Marv?

LOL, Q-101 isn't going anywhere. If the PPM ratings have revealed anything it's that Modern Rock radio has far more listeners then the current flawed Arbs led ppl to believe.
Q is prolly right on track by tightening its sound and staying the course with its heritage format.

That's exactly right, CHRLes.

PPM is more dependent on cume.

All the stiffs Q101 was playing prior to this week chase cume away.

Of course, dumping a morning show that was #1 in Men 25-54 in its final full book also chases cume away.

Does anyone have access to the Miller Kaplan reports on annual revenue for Chicago radio?

I'd love to see how much Q101 has lost since 2001. I bet it's a heck of a lot more than the $6 mil Mancow is sueing to get.
