Major Skip in Huntsville, AL today!

Had a short jaunt to a client site this afternoon and happened to tune in KRJM (101.5) from Mahnomen, MN this afternoon! I also got what I think is CKLF-FM in Brandon, MB (they identified themselves as Star-94.7 and were playing top-40). Also got a brief pickup of another Canadian station on 104.3 (for some reason, our blowtorch here, WZYP, was off the air shortly). I know this one was from Canada because they were giving the temperatures in Celsius!

Around 2:15 it was all gone though....sigh. :-[ Anyone else in this area experience this?

I had a skip opening to Northern Mexico a few months back in Birmingham. Hearing a Home Depot ad in Spanish on 90.1 was a big clue to where the skip was rolling in from. (No portion of the band is reserved for non-comms in Mexico.) Finally determined it to by XHRYS-Reynosa. Had other XH stations that day, but never ID'ed most of them.

Back in Dec or Jan I was hearing a station on 102.9 that ID'd as KRMG or KFMG....I can't remember which. I typed the calls in on radio Locator, and It was out of Northern Minn. About 957 miles north of where i'm at. before I've heard stations out of East Texas, and back in feb I kept hearing stations near New Orleans, one I remember was KCIL - 107.5. another was 92.3/Metarie. Very surprising being only 8 miles from 92.1 WKUL's antenna.

I was hearing spanish on 101.5 yesterday, had no idea where it was coming from though. few weeks ago, I had WTBX 93.9 Hibbing MN coming in.

Probably CBC Radio 1 from Fairford, Manitoba. They run a provincewide weather report at the top of the hour right after the news. CJQM-FM Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. is also a possibility but they probably would have only given the local SSM temperature.

During a storm in Phoenix years ago, when my station was off the air, I picked up Y100 - Miami on the skip!
True story!
