Speaking of the Comedy category, how about Felicity Huffman taking home Best Actress and Tony Shalhoub grabbing Best Actor.

Even the Best Actress in a Drama Series category was a upsetter, with Patricia Arquette winning her first EMMY for "Medium".

Another big shocker was in the miniseries department, where PBS has good reasons to celebrate its win for its "Masterpiece Theatre" presentation of "Lost Prince" over CBS' "Elvis" and USA's "The 4400".

How the hell did that happen?
The show is not well done, and she isn't that good.
And how the hell did that show get picked up for a second season?
Oh yeah, its on NBC and most of the shows without "Law & Order" in the title suck.
______________

Isn't Desperate Housewives supposed to have been in the drama category since it's a soap opera and not a comedy? I'm kind of confused on that one.

Congratulations on Everybody Loves Raymond on winning the Emmy in its final year and also to Brad Garrett in winning his Emmy as well. Well deserved!!

Yep, gotta love those hackneyed mediocre sitcoms with canned laughter and
the usual stacatto "verse, chorus, verse" nature the medium is used to.

Why Letterman's name is attached to this mindless, inert, mediocre, unfunny drivel is beyond me.

Thank God that trainwreck is off the air. Maybe someone deserving will win this award next year.

This is obviously going to be a 'newsflash' to you, but not everything on the air is going to appeal to you. Another great reason why there are so many channels that offer programming that appeals to YOUR tastes and demographic.

Personally, is anyone surprised that ELR won? It's not like the Emmy crew hasn't done that before. Which is why they are considered (the Emmy peeps who vote) clueless and a joke.

I was really shocked by Arquette's win for Medium, which I watched a couple of times last year and thought it was just average. I also didn't really think that "Lost" should have one for best drama. Six Feet Under is legions above any of the other shows that were nominated, IMHO, they should have won for best drama.

I rather have ELR win than that pointless Arrested Development show. And I would agree that Desperate Housewives shouldn't be in the comedy category. It's more drama.
______________

Which is why I very rarely watch regular network TV anymore. FX & Sci-Fi have better shows IMHO.

The Emmy folks need to start paying more attention to a few shows on basic cable(Rescue Me & Battlestar Galactica come to mind). The Emmy's have become a joke over the last several years.
______________

I am in total agreement that both the show and Arquette are mediocre at best.

Actually I was surprised that NBC renewed the series. But then again, as someone else mentioned, NBC would be nothing without the Law & Order programs.

Ironic isn’t it that NBC was once the number one network. Look at it now.

Which just goes to show that the whole CBS telecast of the Emmys are nothing more than the old game show Twenty-One........totally rigged!
______________

Pointless? Please explain.

Naw,

They'll just run it up the middle next year too (throw a couple of bones to some more deserving shows, and give the Emmy to Yet-Another-Paint-By-Numbers-Laughtrack Sitcom).

> Development show.

Yes, elaborate, please. I'm interested in hearing the reasons why many people don't like this show.

Yes, that ideal's fine and all. But what happens when great and original shows like Sports Night and Arrested Development get canned because more people wanna watch such repackaged drivel as Hope and Faith and Still Standing? I have no problem with people watching shows like Everybody Loves Raymond for nine seasons if I can get my shows for more then two (one and 3/4 in the case of AD).
