Majority Report With Rachel Maddow

It has been mentioned before I know, but Rachel Maddow will be subbing for Janeane and Sam Seder this week.

What is new is that on Friday night just befpre signing off Sam seemed suprised by this info. He said he would be off for the next week or 2 and that they would have bunch of different subs, then someone corrected him to say it would be just Maddow. I wonder if Maddow's work on Al Franken last week has had some sort of effect. During one of her broadcasts (Thursday) she mentioned that the number of Web Hits and on-line listeners was way up during the show.

I know a lot of people like to listen to her so I'm sure her talent is part of the reason for that. But I'd imagine Katrina had just as much if not more to do with the rise in listenership.

When someone is hot, you keep them going. Sam should be following Rachel's lead if he wants to do as well as she has been doing. For a while he had been taking lots of extra work, but the baby may have slowed his responses. I think its great that she is being given a chance to do daytime/nighttime talk. She's a fine young talent that I hope will see more airtime.

Did anyone catch Randi Rhodes diatribe against the Rachel Maddow's coverage of the Al Franken Show. Randi went on for about a half hour complaining about a guest on Rachel's show that criticized Democratic politicians in LA. (e.g. the N.O.Mayor Nagin and LA Gov Blanco. She didn't mention Maddow by name but made it clear that she was pissed about the decision to "invite" this person to be on AAR broadcast. I assumed she was going after her nemesis, Ed Schultz, but found out later it was Maddow.

Yes, I heard it and was surprised nobody brought it up before. She was pissed off, and Randi is well known for telling what she thinks, no matter what network or host is involved.

There was a lot of fuzziness about who she was talking about, but she popped up on her message forum and clarified she was referring to the senior producer of the program (Al Franken's or Maddow's own show I am not sure), a woman who she eventually called "psycho." She was none too pleased with Maddow either, but Maddow's listeners said she was trying not to be too confrontational with the guest because she supposedly had family in the city.

The choicest words went to the guest herself, who Randi called a "psycho bitch from hell." But Randi was livid all week anyway.

Those who want to hear it can download part one of the show from: http://www.wilem.com/rrs/rrs_20050902_001.mp3 (the tirade occurs at the beginning and towards the end of the first hour - remember commercials are deleted, so the end of the first hour is around 40 minutes in). Those who want to hear back editions of her show can find them at: http://www.randirhodesarchives.com/

Uhmm- Joe Lieberman is personna non-grata- and don't get started on give em hell Zell Miller and a small pack of southern dems they would rather purge the party of. The DLC and Clinton (Bill, sometimes Hillary) are lucky to get treated with nuetrality and most of the time get called wimps and Republiclones.

Soooooooo you can criticize democrats on AAR. Do we hear much criticism of fellow republicans on the right? Maybe Arnold S. or Guilliani..? I think there are a number of pro-choice republicans who thought Terri S and intelligent design were bad ideas and stem cells are good ideas. Does this get much play on conservative talk- or is it all- dems bad repubs good? It isn't a bad idea to take this approch- big tent and all- but AAR has rejected that pretty clearly.

Rachel is giving Clinton a well deserved kick in the ass today....on her sub appearance for the majority report team. I have to agree that if you act like a republican, you have to answer for it. Savage has evicerated Bush for not being a real conservative, or at least how Savage defines it. The only problem is that the Repugs always go into lockstep wrong or right...i find that a major issue.

prob a mix of both around the dial Robbdc..but its easy to refute that Dems don't get criticized on AAR....good point... (I support it to a point, for example, Ive still got a box of asskickings for those Dems who supported this horrible bankruptcy bill and I will personally evicerate any Dem that dares vote for this estate tax repeal)
