Makes Sense To Us

Nurse Jeff and I like the sound of KT'Rs new lineup: Mac & Cheese with Gaydos in PMD followed by the Evil Joe Crummey from 7-10pm. Has the Master Blogger finally discovered his programming brain after all this time? Perhaps our work is done here and we can retire gracefully, enjoying early bird specials and lots of Humble Pie! Advantage KT'R.

Nothing yet on the Master Blog--it's still stuck on January 9--
but I guess it's official since it was announced on-air tonight.

Of course this has the pieces of the puzzle in the wrong place
and we still have the six-hour rain delay at noon.

Monday evening's open:
"Live from the western command in El Lay, via Phoenix-A-Z...
it's El Crummey-o!" ;)

Oh crap. Now I'm gonna have to switch back to my ipod in the car while I'm working, after 7pm. <sigh>

Sorry. I just really disliked Crummey from the little I heard. I'm sure he's very talented...just way way too far right for my tastes.

Great move, Russ! Gaydos and Mac (or is it Mac and Gaydos) sound so much better when they are on air together. Mac doesn't stutter as much (which is a good thing) and the show is a lot more entertaining.

As for Joe Crummey coming back to Phoenix...about frickin time! :D

Finally, the nights are eeevvvvillll again! And just in time, too. I need an updated Joe Crummey mask for the new photo radar on the freeways. ;D

It's deja vu all over again for Joe Crummey as he first did 7-10pm at KFWhyEye. Thanks to Liddy & Hill's less than brilliant decision to play hardball with the ChickBoss, the Evil One moved up to afternoons. Seems the Master Blogger had an ethical issue (this is radio after all, Russ) with a guy in El Lay doing a local show in Phoenix and doing it better than his own hacks (anyone remember Ted & Heidi?). Enter the New York Times article and an unemployed Congressman with strong name recognition and no fear of a microphone. Voila, the Evil One exits quicker than John McCain from the campaign trail and we're stuck with J.D. Loudmouth in afternoons. Feeling sorry for outing Crummey from his El Lay studio closet, the Master Blogger throws him a bone last December and KT'R gets The Crummey Minute commentary. Thanks to our constant badgering, the Master Blogger allows the Evil One to do some vacation relief shifts on KT'R under the condition he mentions his show is coming from El Lay and not Central Avenue. As Nurse Jeff and I told the Master Blogger at the time, he had the wrong guy for PMD in Phoenix. The right guy was 350 miles due west. And while he's not coming back to PMD, but 7-10pm, we're glad we were able to play a small role in returning evil talk radio to the Valley!

Here's the talk show host that you really like...and I aint no dummy. I feel so happy when I'm at the mic, cause I'm Joe Crummey. words and music by Billy Preston

I like it. I am actually a fan of Gaydos and enjoy his brand of talk radio. I will def be listening to pm drive more now that mac is not alone in the room. Also great to hearthe Crummey again on a full time basis in the valley.

Now we just have to do something about the morning snooze... we don't need the same news story again again and again.

This will be tough for me. I love Joe Crummey but don't really want to give up Dennis Miller-probably won't. Too bad he can't be in PMD.

I agree with AZenergy. For those of us with a long commute, the news content gets rather repetetive. I don' mind hearing the major stories again, I know they need to rotate frequently, but the color, or feature stories get repeated too often, and there's a ton of those they could be using to keep things fresh.

Glad they're using Gaydos in AM drive. Hope they don't steal him away for that Hollywood cooking show.

I honestly think they should move Anrkarlo to am drive, and free up late mornings for something else. Too bad Kid is pretending to be all down with the kids at KZON, would love to hear him again on talk radio on KTAR

Dr. Akbar, first I thought this was only your KTAR lineup wish list! This is truly fantastic news!

Congratulations to Joe Crummey-- He's a REAL pro.

This is going to take me back to my pre-2003-2004 days!

Nice to know we're programming KTAR. Guess that's why KFYI didn't hire a new PD. Management can just follow along here and make the suggested tweaks and changes. Do we get a raise? Power to the people right on!

Like we said before Kool Lauren, perhaps it's time for the Nurse and me to move on as most of our work is done here. To add icing to the cake, over the weekend the Master Blogger dropped those stupid Arizona's #1 News & Talk Station IDs and replaced them with something that actually makes sense. Now that the banks have been bailed out, anyone want to purchase the Buckeye Media Hut and adjacent cottonfield that goes with it? Owners are motivated.

I am interested in purchasing the Buckeye Media Hut, but only if it can be relocated to Gila Bend or Maricopa. I believe these markets are underserved by media consultants. I am even thinking about opening a branch office in Quartzsite. The possibilities are endless!

On the subject of KTAR, I miss the old traffic and weather beds. The new ones just don't sound quite right.

The Master Blogger's last blog?

January 9th.

If I had not updated in nearly 9 months, I'd take the blog down, so as not to embarrass myself.

But, I guess the irony is lost on Hill after whining about Crummey doing his show from home, then hiring him.

Its a big old goofy world, who wants pudding?

Will Mac and Gaydos get along? What happens when you put two nutty host egos together?

I'm getting a Liddy and Hill vibe, only without any brains or talent.

And Joe, welcome back to PHX, if you need help recording a new theme song, I play a mean Didgeridoo.

I'll hate to see our Phoenix News/Talk lobbyists and aficionados go. And for "completely" agreeing with me so many times this year on music radio, you're both my future P1 listeners. I really have something brilliant and innovative for programming, that it probably wouldn't even end up in a coffee-stained, manila envelope stamped as "confidential", sitting on the desk in the Buckeye Media Consultancy Hut!

Good Luck Joe Crummey! Wish you the best.

In my opinion, this move is the same as when KTAR started airing the Tony Snow Show (R.I.P.). Trying to copy KFYI.

If KFYI really wanted Crummey, they could have moved him to 7-10 (time sounds familiar?). Also why would KFYI drop Crummey just because of a news article saying the program originates from L.A.?

I think Crummey is a better fit on KTAR.

Joe was absoultely Crummey and eeeeevvvvviiiil last night--I loved it!!

Welcome back to the Valley, Joe, if only via ISDN. ;D

I'll save you a seat at Arriba Mexican Grill. ;)

Sounds like KTAR is going the guy talk route on FM, which is a viable alternative to FYI. If you can't beat 'em...be different. They should scrap the news in morning drive to complete things. KTAR will get the 25-54 audience; KFYI can have the 35+. Both get to stay in business. Until KFYI's older listeners die off.

I listened to about two hours of that Crummey show Monday night and
at least twice during that period he enunciated the call letters as "KT'R."

Yo Joe, thanks for reading the R-I boards and getting the calls "right"--
or at least in the Preston tradition. ;)
