I think it depends on the station, & charging a station like HJY with the responsibility that no young ears hear a mildly offensive word is silly. Still, I'm sure the directive came from corporate during some indecency hubbub & you know who always wins when you fight authority. I don't know if there's some song-specific list of required edits but I doubt that the decision was completely local. I was brought up in a household where no one swore but I picked up the language anyway & it sure wasn't because of the lyrics radio was playing at the time. Listeners don't dissect lyrics of songs they already know. They mentally sing along. The "other" version of James Blunt's You're Beautiful has him f'ing high instead of flying high. I don't expect anyone to play the other version, but in concert he doesn't sing that line. He pauses & the audience sings it, & I don't have to tell you which line they sing. I'm willing to bet if he sings at a radio-sponsored event he's flying high though.
