Management changes at WPLJ/WABC

I hope Cumulus gives Foxx some independence as PD - so far PLJ has basically been a copy of RQX/Washington, DVD/Detroit, and most of Cumulus's other Hot AC stations, all of which have been ridiculously conservative about adding new music

But isn't "our currents are the CHR station's recurrents" sort of the norm for Hot AC stations?

Should mean nothing as far as Scott Shannon is concerned - he'll continue as morning co-host + program director at WPLJ.
He's been a VP of Programming for Cumulus (nee Citadel) since December 2009.

My fault for just retyping from the December 2009 notices; with the hire of Foxx, Scott's now the co-PD at 'PLJ, at least according to Inside Radio.

So who is the PD at WABC? The place sounds adrift.

At least some of the programming put in place by Laurie Cantillo (Larry Kudlow, John Batchelor, Bob Grant) is still in place. Maybe no PD is better than a PD who could actually do more damage.

I'm more surprised at jeff miles leaving. I wonder if this was voluntary or forced..as for music, none of the stuff in the last 10 years has really stuck around more than a year to make any lasting impressions... I prefer 60's and 70's and 80's :)

I feel sick when I think of what a great talk station WABC used to be, compared to what it has become. It was a vibrant, multi-faceted talkfest, reflecting New York City and the Tri-state area in all it's glory/ugliness. The variety of personalities was terrific. For one thing, you didn't have host after host after host saying the same things all day long. It is dreadful now, and in time, that will be reflected in the ratings more and more.

The fact that they don't really even need a PD at this point speaks volumes about what the station is at the moment, and what it will continue to degrade into down the road.

This medium is destroying itself without any help from other audio sources. WABC's horribleness is the most disturbing, simply because you expect more from what should be the top of the heap.
