Where are the transmitters for Smooth FM 100.4 and the new Channel M independent TV for Manchester? Are they shown on the mb21 tower-photo site?

SmoothFM is definitely on the mb21 tower-photo website. Our friends at Ofcom provide everyone with a list of radio transmitters and all the technical parameters in Excel format (link here) and you can find out thanks to the grid reference the exact location of a transmitter on a UK map from the Ordnance Survey's Get A Map service.

From the Ofcom info, SmoothFM is on Winter Hill. The mb21 reference for this is: http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/winterhill/index.asp

Now for Channel M. It's a TV service, but Ofcom isn't as nice for TV as it is for radio with all the technical parameters. Being a restricted licenced TV station, it's not likely to be co-located with the BBC's and the ITV's of the world. Hence Googie is your best bet. Fortunately, mb21 has visited Channel M's tx facilities already. Here's the mb21 url: http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/bolton-water-tower.asp

And yes, it's on a water tower. But what do you expect for a low power ultra-local tv station?

Mark.
