Mancow back to Wild?

It was reported in the Radio Notes section of the Pink Section of the Chronicle yesterday that Mancow was rumored to be going back to Wild. I am assuming he meant they would be picking him up from Chicago through syndication.

I know Mancow is trying to pounce on the void that is going to be there when Stern leaves and is trying to get into as many markets as possible right now.

There was an interesting article about that in the Wall Street Journal this morning.

Anyone with thoughts or insight into Mancow to Wild?

Well, for what it is worth, 94.9 does need a good performing morning show, dumbest thing they ever did was let the dogs out!!!:) I think now they are hurting because of it. It could be like a reunion of sorts, having mancow back, but I'm sure it would be short lived, I don't think mancow can keep the listeners entertained all the way from chicago, it would kinda be like supersnake on kmel, he is piped in from arizona, I think, not SF, really spoils everything if the jock doesn't sound local. the deejays must relate to their local audience. :) just my 2 cents.

That would be Ben Fong-Torres' "Radio Waves" column, which included a segment on Sarah and No Name from Alice, as well as bits and pieces that participants on this board have been kicking around for weeks.

except that Snake has been #1 in the 18-34 ratings for the last 2 years in trends... so maybe he's doin somethin right.

no mancow.

Remember his haircut stunt on the Bay Bridge? I was in the backup. He's not welcome!

YOU'RE STILL TALKIN ABOUT IT !!

CLASSIC STUNT .

THE BACK-UP WASN'T THAT BAD. ..NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY.

BTW - STUPID MOVE; LETTING THE DOGS OUT.

That is why he is more than welcome - He did a bit YEARS AGO (over a decade) and you are still thinking and talking about it... That is what radio is lacking as the days go by... less and less talent to provide CONTENT and ENTERTAINMENT to the listeners...

The Doghouse was (and still is) my favorite, but I'd love to hear Mancow back in SF.

Hey, obviously you've got a computer. Listen to him online and save the rest of the Bay Area from anymore STUPID antics.

You guys keep saying what a dumb move it was to let the Doghouse go...
You didn't have to work with or around them...And management finally decided they'd had enough...

And if they were so in demand they'd be back on the air already...I'm sure at some point they will be. But don't think they're reputation hasn't preceded them...

It's no longer OK to be a total jerk just because you have good ratings...

Unless, of course, you're syndicated!

AMEN TO THAT!

> I hadn't listened to the Doghouse in a long time - I remember that they could be funny. But I don't think it's a stretch to assume that a lot of the people who act like "total jerks" on the radio may actually be total jerks in real life...especially after they get successful and have grown huge egos.

I remember a prank call they pulled some years ago where one of them pretended to be a school Principal, and called the father of an elementary school girl. They purposely insulted the girl to the father, calling her stupid, ugly, etc. By the end of the call, the father was seriously angry, and promised to come right down to the school and beat up the Prinicpal. I know prank calls are pre-recorded, and obviously they stopped the angry guy before he beat up the Principal, or we would have read about it in the newspaper. But still...the Doghouse caused the father some serious emotional distress, insulted some poor third grader, and could have endangered the Principal's life and sent the father to prison. They didn't play the part of the call where they told the poor schlub that it's a joke, and he's on the radio. I imagine that's because he responded with profanity, and threatened to come to to Wild and beat THEM up. Does anyone find that kind of s--- amusing?
