Mancow comes to Rockford

Mancow will debut on 96.7 the Eagle next Monday. He is replacing Steve and Dee Dee after they left last December.

Boards went up today.
 
Listened for a bit this morning and I sure wish they would just leave the music. NOW that is an original idea for a morning show...MUSIC!

And wow are they spending lots on boards but when I listened this morning, there was not a mention during the entire time I was listening. Way to market.
 
The best morning show I had heard for a market the size of Rockford was Jim Stone and Double T. When I listened to them in the morning they were in tune with what was going on in Rockford as well as the surrounding communities... I don't listen to much Rockford radio since I have Sirius, but the way Rockford radio is programed is the reason I have Sirius... This is not 1985 and somebody needs to be creative and different and not cookie cutter and take a chance, but we all know that will never happen... As for Mancow unless they are wanting to spring it on as a surprise I have not heard any mention on air when I have been checking to see if they are promoting his arrival nor do they have anything on their website either... Great marketing on the Cloud Companies part ???.
 
It is interesting they would spend money on Mancow when they could just plug in Dwyer and Michaels from the QC, which is already on in Iowa City and QC again once non-compete ends. I myself would rather hear Mancow but if I was them I would just add D+M and be done with it.
 
It's not costing Cumulus a dime in cash. Mancow gets inventory and that's how he's making his cash. Cumulus is working on a corporate deal with Cow and will probably have him on in many many markets very soon.
 
That would make sense. One of the clusters I used to work for is now owned by Cumulus, and Mancow ended up appearing on the rock station. However, it looks like they have him on fewer than 10 stations right now. That would mean plenty of room to expand if they did cut a group deal with Mancow.
 
besides the hype from Cow...can anyone find a market where Mancow is winning? Maybe Rockford will be different than all the rest. Does anyone know the real reason that Cumulus put Mancow on...this just doesn't make any sense.
 
I would like to continue my post from earlier. Listened again to Mancow this morning and heard more promos for the show than actual show content. And when he talks, I picture Tom Arnold.
 
Here is the #1 problem with Mancow in Rockford....NO ONE CARES. 5-6 years ago that would have mattered, and would have done something. Mancow in 2007, in Rockford IL??? That's like handing your neighbor kids your old Nintendo...kinda cool, but after they try it for 5 minutes they will say "oh god this is lame".
Way to go Eagle 96.7, what's next, 9 ABSOLUTELY LAME, SPENT, DEAD, classic rock songs in a row??? Oh wait...

So, lemme get this straight...

Mansow is offering his show for barter now? He used to be able to command cash, AFAIK. He had a multi-million dollar deal at Q101, for cryin' out loud!

And just today, he lost one of his strongest affiliates, KAZR in Des Moines.

My, how the mighty have fallen!

Serves him right. The guy's a putz who ripped off everyone else's bits. And now he's trying to reinvent himself as a high-and-mighty Hannity clone. Not even FOX News can save this chump.
 
If you really want a good morning show in Rockford, tune into Q98.5! (not to toot our own horns!) ;)
