A snippet from chron.com

"TRN-FM, which syndicates the Chicago-based Erich "Mancow" Muller show, says it has signed an agreement to bring the show to Houston but would not identify the affiliate.

It doesn't take much imagination to see KILE going with Mancow in morning drive and local programming - perhaps a local anchor with longtime connections to the station's new general manager -- in afternoon drive.

We will, of course, offer updates as they become availabl

mmm..

My guess could possibly be Cox. With rumors of Outlaw Dave returning to the airwaves on May 3rd, and now this, maybe Cox will finally wake up and do something with "The Pointless". Dare I dream, Active Rock like KISS/San Antonio?!

Also, what is this news with Kidd Kraddick?! I hope not. I used to like Kidd when was doing nights at KEGL/Dallas Fort Worth. Like Tom Joyner, syndication has not been good for his program. It is stale and not terribly funny. I realize Sam Malone to KHMX hasn't turned into the ratings boom that CC was hoping for, but I don't think it's that bad. I think his show is missing Maria and his other cohorts from KRBE. His show is just not as energetic as it was.

There probably is no news with Kidd Kraddick, it's just that Tumor holds a grudge against Sam Malone because he supposedly is the reason for Roula and Ryan being ousted from the Mix and Tumor believes that Sam's ratings are tanking. I can't say for sure if Sam is tanking or not because I have no idea where to looking up morning drive ratings. The mix's ratings aren't doing to hot, but I think that has more to do with the playlist than standalone mustache man. Tumor can't get over the fact whether CC approaced Sam or Sam approached them, it was CC who made the decision where to put Sam Malone, not Sam himself. That would be like me getting upset and holding the Mexicanz responsible for Walton and Johnson getting fired from KLOL.

A Mancow? An Outlaw? The Point?
Ummm...does anyone know what will be on the playlist should the above three names fall under one roof?
Looking foward to a lively May.
Back to my begonias...

It's not like Mancow would turn Houston radio upside down or anything. People overlook that originates his show from Chicago in a studio he leases, since his show isn't even carried in Chicago any more. After all his talk about replacing Howard Stern, he couldn't even cut it in Chicago, one of the only markets his ratings were comparable to Stern's - after Stern wasn't even on in Chicago. Seems I read within the past couple weeks that Des Moines was among the markets that have also dumped him completely recently.

I've only heard Kraddick a few times, but it seems to be a lot more compelling than Sam. Oh yeah, should I name the restaurant where they met? See ya!

I've never understood Mancow's appeal, though I haven't heard him in several years and his show is reportedly much different now than it was when I heard it (more political/issues now, less lowest-common-denominator material).

Kraddick, on the other hand, has one of the best sounding CHR morning shows I've heard... I caught his syndicated show on-and-off for a few months... it was on a small market station with a really poorly-run board and completely messed up clocks and even in spite of that his show still sounded upbeat and entertaining, with a polished major-market sound that's missing from most current Houston morning shows.

Could this mean the end of the best of the Eighties and more? Has someone finally read these boards and decided to try something? Have certian stars lined up recently? Could this spark others to play the game too?

Dam it I hope so!

I truly do not wish to insult anyone but... bless your hearts... Dreaming is fun though.

I agree with you, its time. Dreaming is fun, but Cox still isn't quite done beating the dead horse that is the Point, I'm afraid.

This is crazy. Houston is a major market. How can anybody possibly be excited about a syndicated morning show with a "polished major market sound" coming in?

If radio were not being run by Wal-Mart somebody would just grow a pair and hire a decent morning show...without all of that homogenous, non-local crap.
