Hey there everyone, this is my first post on Radio-Info.com and I had a question for all the Tampa/St. Petersburg radio listeners. Has anyone ever been interested in having Mancow's Morning Madhouse broadcastes into the Tampa Bay area? I think Mancow would work better on 97X then 98Rock. Because I think Big Boys on 98Rock are good and should stick on 98Rock for now. But I cant stand 97X in the morning so I think Mancow would work on there. Buts thats me, let me know what you guys think. :)

After a year of debating it I finally broke down this morning and bought a Sirius radio for my car. It is getting installed Thursday and I cant wait. I just could not stand listening to a story about a stolen toilet for 3 hours today on my way to work. Just like the old Calgon commercial - Howard and Bubba; take me away!!!!!!!!!!

lol, no I didnt mean Big Boys are good but they are good were they are for now. I dont think Mancow would fit well with 98Rock the way it is right now. 98Rock is all over the place right now...Im actually thinking about getting one of those new $49 dollar Sirius systems that can be tuned in on any FM station.

Hey there, Sparky, this is my 830th post on Radio-info.com, and I have your answer:

This is a top 25 market. Go ahead and chuckle.. Now, for over a decade a handful of people have been screaming for Stern, Bob and Tom, Lex and Terry, John Boy and Billy..and I'm sorry, are the "Monsters" still here?.... and every other name combination that has permiated the terrestrial airwaves in (mainly) smaller markets.

I stand by my arguement that this market doesn't need imported talent in morning drive. Stern is on his way out, dragging his 0.2 or whatever with him. Bob and Tom and Lex and Terry were both run out of the market after maybe a year, at best. (CC actually dropped the dime to get the NFL Buccaneers on their 103.5 outlet, only to have Bob and Tom spend most mornings kissing the butt of their hometown ringless wonder Peyton Manning of the Colts. Someone finally wised up and blew it up) John Boy and Billy have been here twice, with similarly underachieving results. Don Imus, bless his wrinkled, cocaine addled, once vodka fueled heart, is on fumes on CC's pay-for-play station 1250 WHNZ.

In short, buddy: The so called best and brightest of imported radio have crashed and burned here, and this despite Tampa/St Pete being a place where hundreds of thousands of radio listeners have moved TO from somewhere else.

Tampa/ St Pete radio was built on the backs of people like Ron and Ron, Tedd Webb, Jack Harris, Cleveland Wheeler, Scott Shannon, Mason Dixon and Company, Bob Lassiter,Bubba the Love Sponge, MJ (and BJ) Tom and Tom, Scott Robbins, Howard Hewes, and others who came before I moved here...( My apologies if I missed any legends or significant contributors...I just had to jump on this particular question)

While this markets terrestrial radio will not soon see the number of local talent, especially outside of morning drive, I ll take what I can get....from people who live here, thank you.

Nope. Even Cox has local talent on that station right now. Let Mancow be elsewhere, where the talent ISN'T.

True that... good post, however, FYI, The Tampa/St. Petersburg/Clearwater market is now ranked #19.
 
Me neither. Fisher sucks and that sidekick of his is Jewish!!! There's already too many Jews in the biz anyway.

Isn't it funny as your post was made yesterday that Mancow's people have been campaigning heavily to get in this market. It hasn't happened yet.. and there have been opportunities...

Let them put Mancow on both of our stations and you and I will put on bikini tops and wash cars for a living. But not that damn Phatty... He's in too good of shape. He'll have to get a real job.

It would be a good idea to stick to local programming. You don't want to have this guy piped in. Mancow has been on the air here in Chicago since 1994. He used to have a decent show....until he went syndicated. Now all his show is, is washed up Hollywood stuff and some national news content. His show just reached the lowest ratings ever....in Chicago anyhow. <P ID="signature">______________

Hmm yeah I guess you got a good point. The only good talent we still have is Jack Harris, Tedd Webb, MJ, and Mason Dixon..but they arent in with today's time. Back in the day those were the top guys and still are in some eyes. But we need some fresh original content I guess in Tampa. I'll wait and see what happens but in the mean time I think i'll have a visit to Sirius Satellite Radio and stay with internet channels. :)

Puddin, Fisher..If I made anyone mad I apologize. Just my two cents. Hey I know many people like both your shows but then again I dont but hey we have a choice, to turn it off or stay on the station. :)
 
The thing about syndicated shows not doing well here... I think part of that has to do with an over-saturation of morning talk-a-thons. I don't mind a liberal dose of talking in a morning show when the hosts have something relevant or humorous to talk about -- but it's great to have some music thrown in for balance.
 
No... No... No... It didn't make me mad or upset me at all. And I doubt that Puddin' lost any sleep over it as well.

I just thought it was cool that someone started a thread that wasn't about JACK-FM or the upping of the wattage of some A.M. station that no one has ever heard of:)
