ok, so why are those two not thought of as "shock jocks" what makes them different?

Because Johnny B has never said anything shocking and Dahl hasn't said anything shocking since he was teaming with Gary.
To be honest, I was a bit sad when Cow got let go and then I started listening to O&A and realized while they were still pretty bad they were light years funnier then Cow could ever dream of being. Chicago is too big and sophisticated for him. A market size better suited to his style of radio would be on a low power station like the one he started on in Pig Lips, Missouri.

geez, if I didn't know any better I'd think Mancow personally did some of you physical harm. I listen to the free live stream at work when I can, and I'll admit to being a fan of the show. He has tweaked it to be more positive in the last few years, and his core crew he has now consisting of Marissa, Al Roker Jr, Mini-Freak have a lot of chemistry on air. Even if sometimes the stuff he says is a stretch, it usually either gets me to think or laugh depending on the topic. Unlike a Stern, he doesn't fill up the show with too much tasteless content, which I think may be why so many people wanna see him burn, since he's generally trying to do positive with his show, and that may make some uncomfortable.

The show sounds better than ever, in my opinion! He is on a lot of good markets ( Houston, SF, Atlanta, Baltimore, New Orleans, Knoxville...those are not "small" cities?) I thought I was a big fan just got done with his book, GREAT read. But you seem to know alot more?? Chicago does not go for everything look at Q101 without the Mancow...Rumor has it he was hanging with Chris Chelios the other night at the U.C. I would have loved to have been in that box listening to those two Chicago heros chat it up. Mancow would be WAY better and more accepted in CHICAGO than the rumor of the I-Man going to WLS...No?

Mancow is on WCFO-AM 1160, a 50,000w, directional daytimer. Sunrise is currently at 7:15 am. In high summer it will be 6:40 am and in winter it will be 7:45 am. Which means he won't be heard for a good portion of his show. The tower is about 25 miles W/NW of downtown and one cannot recevie the signal in the areas of North Fulton or Gwinnett County. Guess where most of Mancow's target audience lives? Saying he is on the air in Atlanta is like claiming to be in Chicago with transmitter in Zion pointing towards the lake.

okay i might no be so technical savy about towers directions and what not .....
but i remember mancow in the bay area doing mornings on a hiphop station and beating the crap out of i believe it was wild107 he was on kmel

then he shows up on the rock 103.5 and goes after kevin mathews/steve dahl/ stern / johnny "get of the studio while i block the studios windows" b. he did make some noise and brought exciment back to chicago radio

lets not forget how the rock sunk like a like a rock when the cow went over to q101
history was made when the ratings came out per roberts column people/listeners left the rock with the cow

sure he did try to be more of and older listener talk radio that is where he went wrong
the cow needs to try to go back to what made him big ...a little humor....interviews....charity.....sports....a few pranks here and there and he will be fine

by the way the only reason seacrest is big is because of ai.....
bob & tom they couldnt make it in chicago so they pull the plug on them
rush limbaugh different time slot and he is all politics
the suits did not want to pay the cow so he left
the q has not been the same since
the cow did give me some advice about radio and he told me it is very ruff and he proceeded to give me the tel# of a friend of his in texas just in case i was interested in pursuing spanish radio....

by the way i used to listen to the cow .....but credit needs to be given were it is due
the cow will be fine
