Mangino

What's with the one name? Is he being pretentious? Cher, Charo, Liberace, Mangino. How long before he goes "Prince" on us and refers to himself with a symbol?

I don't see it as a big deal. The challenge is to get people to remember your name, whether its Honz Man, Uncle Dougie or Herschel.

What's the big deal? When he was on KQV, Rush Limbaugh used two first names (Jeff Christy)! ::)

Obviously, its no big deal. I have always been intrigued by names. Using one name (Mangino), all three names (Edward James Olmos) or using a middle initial (Jim J. Bullock), always seemed pretentious to me.

In the case of actors/actresses, I think there's a Screen Actors Guild rule that names must be unique. There can never be another Marilyn Monroe, but there could be a Maggie Monroe or a Mary Lynn Monroe. Maybe AFTRA has something similar.

AFTRA has no such rule. There are or were more Bumper Morgans, Bill Thomases and Kevin Steeles on the air than there were stations on the air at one time, I think.

Thats what I thought Kurt, which is what prompted my post. I thought it was unusual/pretentious for someone who has no real history in Pittsburgh broadcasting to suddenly refer to themselves with their last name only, after using two names prior. I would like to reiterate the fact that it is no big deal, just unusual, in my opinion.
