MANSFIELD CHANGES TONIGHT AT MIDNIGHT!

MANSFIELD...WELCOME ALL THE HITS, Y105
Interestingly, we at Northcoast Radio predicted this change over a month ago. It has come true! Y105 is All The Hits. Why you might ask? Clear Channel is moving WMRN from Marion to Dublin creating the need to sell off another Columbus Rimshot, so they decided to dump WQIO. Plus, WQIO wasn't doing too hot in the ratings, so why not drop it while it's hot. After Clear Channel lost it's Mount Vernon building to the satellite hungry B.A.S. they decided to move 98.3 and 107.7 to Ashland.

After their move up route 13 and over on 42, WWBK and WBZW decided to take on a new name and mascot. Joining sister WFXN the three are now called "THE FOX ROCK NETWORK, THREE TIMES THE TOWERS WITH THREE TIMES THE POWER." Jeff Schendel is the big daddy of the new threesome (no, they don't sell that DVD in the Adult Video Stores). His new 12,000 watt baby fox comes complete with a new logo, web-site and full staff. The station did very well in the ratings before with an average place of #5- #7 overall 12+. Maybe adding these simulcasters will only make it better?

As for the loss of KISS? Check this out, WYHT Mansfield, Your Hits, Your Station...Y105
All The Hits, Y105 is Eric Hanson's newest creation after coming to Mansfield during the Clear Channel format swithceroo! His 50,000 watt female magnet will adjust from the 25-54's to the 18-49's that CHR's desire. A new voice, new imaging, new jocks....whew! Look for Y105 to become a copy cat or close to a copy cat of WNCI. Danny Wright (APD/MD WNCI) is now forging the voice for WYHT and Nathan Tyler (overnights at WNCI) along with Marty Scott (weekends for WNCI) join the line-up. Rumor has it Chris Shaheen stays and Drew Hanson (WNCI weekends) joins for overnights????? Look for the Morning Rush to add an extra warm body (as heard in the halls of Clear Channel Mansfield), but who this is we will not know.

As for the staff at the old Clear Channel Mount Vernon... Eric Lee from the former Kiss FM moves over to WQIO (93Q) as Imaging/Production Director. Michael Hayes sticks around as Operations/Program Director for WMVO/WQIO and Jenny Murray is upped to Promotions Director/Morning Host for WQIO.

NATHAN TYLER, SEE YOU UP OR IS IT DOWN OR UP THE DIAL...HMMMM...... EVERYONE ELSE AT KISS, WE WILL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RADIO DIAL SOMEWHERE! GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD BYE!"

If you wonder why I am so emotional, I helped start Kiss FM back in 2000 and 2001. It is a sad day in Mid and Northcentral Ohio.

I checked out 98.3 this morning (September 1st, 6:15AM) and also confirm that WWBK was playing the same CHR music and calling itself Kiss-FM.
How long are you going to camp out?

According to http://www.foxclassicrock.com on the top banner they have all three listed. Also heard the Y-105 News this morning which made mention of this. I've not tuned into 98.3 and 107.7 so I can not confirm the switch...but from insider info and this morning news this is to happen today.

ong time since I was back in Mansfield. Lot has changed from when I started in radio back in the mid to late 80s. Anyone know what ever happen to WSWR. I know they were bought out in the early 90s I think. What ever happened to them?

100.1 is Clear Channel's Oldies station, "Cruisin 100"
 
It's still KISS FM, and no I was not going to Dennys for real... It was just a blog! I was told that the switch would happen at midnight!

As for the consultant thing. There was no Consultant company, it was a group of employees that started the station. How many people can say they build a station. It was a lot of fun being involved with that process...
