Mansfield...Here it comes, Hold your breath...
As we are parked outside of the Denny's on 4th avenue in Mansfield we await the switch of the millenium in Mansfield Ohio.

Y105 All The Hits are here and The Fox Rock Network kicks on tonight. Best of luck to everyone at CCMansfield/Ashland.

This is my official entry saying "GOODBYE KISS FM MID-OHIO... WE WILL MISS YOU. YOU GUYS PLAYED ALL OF TODAYS BEST MUSIC, NOT JUST SOME OF IT. ERIC LEE IN THE MORNING, YOU WERE THE BEST! NATHAN TYLER, SEE YOU UP OR IS IT DOWN OR UP THE DIAL...HMMMM...... EVERYONE ELSE AT KISS, WE WILL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RADIO DIAL SOMEWHERE! GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD BYE!"

If you wonder why I am so emotional, I helped start Kiss FM back in 2000 and 2001. It is a sad day in Mid and Northcentral Ohio.

We will run tape beginning at 11:57 to catch the action. Three beat up cavaliers siting in the Denny's parking lot.... seems like High School.

Kennedy

Wasn't Eric Matthews the primary architect of 98-3/107-7 KISS FM? Never heard of a "Kennedy" before though; what did you do there?

You act as though KISS Mansfield is like WCBS-FM flipping.

He is being just a tad bit melodramatic about this, isn't he?

Eric was in charge of the station, but I was on the consultation team of Eric, Josh, Jeremy and myself. My job was to determine how to penetrate the market and market the station itself...

It was my first project of that sort... That's why I am a little melodramatic about it. I am very proud of what that station accomplished....

Consultation team? As in an actual consultant firm like a "Vallie-Richards" or...what? I'm confused, NorthCoastRadio.

All this to-do over two pretty poorly run stations. A pretty poorly-run cluster for that matter. I wouldn't expect the "new" incarnation of WYHT to be much better than the last. The Kiss Mid-Ohio combo was like a jukebox with no real focus, and as many generic Dave Kampell-voiced sweepers they could cram in. With some pretty decent Top 40's scattered all over the state, we don't need to be gushing over one of the worst; and what's about to be one of the worst.

I might add that the Fox WFXN 102.3 Galion also sounds like a poorly tossed together station. I thought WYXZ 98.7 was a much better rock station for Mid-Ohio. 98.3 and 107.7 should focus on their home towns and be local news, sports , lite rock-oldies stations serving the community not rim shots.

Good thing Denny's is always open. 12:09 and I still hear KISS-FM on 107.7
Sounds like it's gonna be a long night of rolling tape for ya. There's a Wal-Mart and Meijer nearby if you need some more TDK's.

Imagine that, they left the "Kennedy & Friends Consultancy, LLC" out of the loop on the actual switch. ;-)

It's still KISS FM, and no I was not going to Dennys for real... It was just a blog! I was told that the switch would happen at midnight!

As for the consultant thing. There was no Consultant company, it was a group of employees that started the station. How many people can say they build a station. It was a lot of fun being involved with that process...

Huh? Usually people tell the truth about their activities in blogs, Kennedy.

Didn't it get you to listen at Midnight?

Please dude! I knew it wasn't going to flip at exactly 12:00... Didn't it make you listen? If there was only PPM in Mansfield right now Kiss would have a 70 share... I was trying to HYPE the situation.

DAVE Kennedy!

If any of you really care. The switch for the Fox happened sometime Thursday afternoon. I was scanning Sirius when I thought to check the FM signal. They are calling themselves the Fox Rock network 102.3 98.3 and 107.7. I really dont like their mix of rock music but that is just my opinion.
Edited by deejay993 on 09/01/05 09:50 PM.

Re: Didn't it get you to listen at Midnight?

I was DX'ing. Nothing out of the normal for a geek. That station (98.3) is a bit tricky where I am with 175,000 watts only 400kHz away (WNCI).
And kudos to the post below.

I heard 107.7 doing Classic Rock around 11:00 this morning. The jock said that they were now on 2 of the 3 stations. 98.3 must not have gone to rock right away.
It's come, it's gone, put it to rest now.
