Many Format flips in the area

With all eyes on the death of the score other stations are switching too.

The list as I know it

99.7 to WEAN a simulcast of WPRO
790 AM to True Oldies
99.3 The bridge to a Jones network AC service
102.3 to Classic Rock as The Wolf
The Wolf going to be be WXLM TALK
Chris Dipaola takes over 1230 AM in Westerly as soon as the AG ok's the sale. Why he is involved I'll never know.

I think I hit everything. Is there any thing else?
We still have no idea of Yankees in Rhode Rhode Island. Is anyone carrying Pre Season Yankees.
WEAN would be my first guess and I'm sticking with that for right now.WEAN's license is the furthest from Boston so that's another reason I pick them. I can see them splitting programming for games .
As for the Pats I think they still have another year on the Trail so WPRV is a possibillity or again I am going to run with WEAN for Pats. I dont see them dropping the Pats at all.

The AG is involved with the sale of 1230am because it was a non-com station simulcasting NPR radio from Providence, which in turn comes mostly from Boston University. You really shouldn't be able to sell a non-com outright without paying all of the individuals who've donated money to the station. But then again, non-com in Westerly's always had a different way of doing things.

Also; is WJZS no longer THE BRIDGE? Their website indicates it is.

I believe 102.3 fm becomes 104.7 fm. Thats where the programming is going.
Why are they doing this??

The Bridge's website has changed somewhat though. There's less detail about the music & Steve Bianchi is gone from the site as one of the personalities. Since I bought a new car I haven't really played with presets & have been using the "seek" function until I get accustomed to driving it, so I'm not really paying too much attention to what's out there. It's a shame if this format is gone, especially if it's replaced by one more AC station.

As far as True Oldies on 790, AM or not, normally I'd be a little enthused but since the car comes with 3 months of XM, it's kind of a moot thing until at least June. I think I may just keep XM. I'm not the type to go into a frenzy anytime I can't find something I like on the air in the car, but for the price it gives me more control & variety.

Well......so much for musical diversity on the commercial portion of the FM band. :(

Please dont base your idea of what's happening in radio based on something Kenny says!

Simple, the WMOS format is designed to target Mohegan Sun Casino (The studio is inside the casino), but the
104.7 signal on Long Island isn't reliable enough around and inside the casino. The thinking is, 102.3 is, and will
be stronger around there. (A little piece of trivia, 102.3 is the only non Rhode Island licensed station to have it's transmitter inside the borders of Rhode Island)

Keep the XM. Things around here are going to get worse before and if they get better. Frankly after morning drive everything is an afterthought in Providence radio.
