Salisbury Broadcasting’s KWWV-FM and KXTY-FM

Mapleton Communications, one of the fastest growing radio operators in California, has announced the acquisition of KWWV-FM licensed to San Luis Obispo and KXTY-FM licensed to Morro, Bay, CA. KWWV-FM and KXTY-FM are being sold by Salisbury Broadcasting, Inc., to the Los Angeles based Mapleton Communications which already operates KXTZ-FM, KXDZ-FM, KYNS-AM and KPYG-FM in the San Luis Obispo market.

“We are thrilled at the opportunity to expand our presence in the San Luis Obispo community with the acquisition of KWWV-FM and KXTY-FM” said Adam Nathanson, President and CEO of Mapleton Communications.

“We have enjoyed good success building value in these stations and franchises. The Central Coast is a vibrant and robust business community, and I am confident that Mapleton Communications will enjoy important, future opportunities with the stations.” commented Charles H. Salisbury, President of Salisbury Broadcasting.

The acquisition is subject to FCC approval and expected to close in the 4th quarter.

Finally...maybe Mapleton will take those two dog stations and deliver something exciting for SLO county. Plus they've been revenue weights around the necks of AGM/Salisbury...time to dump the hip-hop and piped in talk.

why dump hip hop? the only hip hop station

It's just not a big enough revenue generator in this market. They would be better off turning it into a (rhythmic) top-40 or a hot AC since there is not a top-40 in the market anymore.
