MARC AMAZON - AWFUL!

stereolane said:
The Reds game just ended, and what am I greeted with? Not Seg-Man Dennison, as I had hoped... No, it's Marc Amazon taking calls for 30 minutes from the worst Reds fans imaginable... drunks, geeks, effeminate sounding nerds, and the generally clueless. I have not been able to pinpoint the exact reason, but I can't stand listening to Marc Amazon blather on for any length of time. The p**s-poor call screening doesn't help. With Seg-Man, bad callers are funny. With Marc Amazon, it's just sad, bordering on pathetic.

What is it about this guy that makes me turn the radio OFF?

You just described the Reds' entire fan base.

I've never heard a radio host do two different radio interviews within a span of ten minutes.
You must not listen to Jim Scott. He does this all the time.
Jim Scott rarely takes phone calls from regular people though. On a normal talk show after an interview, you'd think the host would take a couple of phone calls and have a couple of segments with a discussion relating to the interview. On the particular night I was listening, Amazon jumped from one interview to the next without taking a phone call.

People like looking at train wrecks and 10 car pile ups. That's why NASCAR is popular. Same goes with bad radio stations. :)

The irony is that NASCAR is not popular on the radio.

When I first heard Amazon, I thought he was doing a Jim Rome impersonation. I can't stand listening to him (Amazon or Rome). As soon as I hear his voice, I change stations.

Nor should it be. It's "Sports" radio. Not cars turning left radio. NASCAR is hardly a sport.

"But they sweat" -- yes, but no pays to watch me mow the lawn
"But some of them are athletes" -- yes, but so are some bowlers
"But you have to qualify" -- yes, but the car qualifies, not the driver.
"But you couldn't do it" -- yes, but I couldn't give a manicure either
"But they make lots of money" -- yes, but so do really good manicurists
