MARC AMAZON... DID HE BAIL DUE TO FREEZING RAIN?!!!

Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot ?

Why did Marc Amazon suddenly go from "Live" to Memorex of his first hour? Let me venture a guess... he was scared of the freezing rain... ::)

Is CC too cheap to have a ISDN line in his basement for such an occasion? Maybe he did a Willie and went home sick from the stomach flu?

My money is still on freezing rain, and that he was afraid he couldn't get home. If I had pulled a stunt like that at the N/T station where I worked, I would have been terminated immediately. It's YOUR JOB to get your LISTENERS through an event like freezing rain. Following this same logic, would Steve Sommers be given a pass if he couldn't get to the station? I've slept on the couch at more than one radio station during a snowstorm. It was MY JOB to do that.

Honestly, given how everybody at Clear Channel seems to be disposable can you blame people for not going the extra mile?

Absolutely. There's no excuse for leaving your shift due to bad weather, and throwing on a replay of the first hour. If that's what he did, believe me, that stuff gets around.

Who would you hire... a guy who was stranded at a station for 14+ hours during a storm and continued to take calls, and give important information, or a guy who left an hour early for fear that his candyass Honda Civic would slide off the interstate?

I don't know the guy from Adam, but it sounds to me like you guys are just making stuff up. His bio says he's from this area and went to school in Bloomington. He can't be a stranger to ice and snow.

How do you know he didn't have a family issue or sudden illness? You don't.

I understand where you're coming from, but in a world where everything is recorded, voice tracked and regurgitated, it kind of seems like a who cares issue. It's too bad it's gotten to this, but I think that's where we are at. A couple of years ago, there was a big storm blowing through Columbus. I guess WTVN didn't have anybody around so they started simulcasting WBNS-TV.

I don't know how this is done on the computer, but WTVN changed its music as of about the first of the year. I noticed somehow the WLW guys were triggering the old sounders today.

Garbage in garbage out.

The day is almost here where even WLW will become another spoke in the world of hub programming. It's happening more everyday as full service radio becomes less relevant to the bottom line.

All I have to say is, thank God I cashed out of my Clear Channel stock after the Bain buyout. Not to pick only on Clear Channel because it seems that all radio companies are leveraged to the hilt, but this company is the media equivalent of Sears.
