marc amazon - severe weather

Just like last winter, we get a little snow, a little wind, and a replay of Marc Amazon's 9PM hour again at 11 so that he can bail out and get home to mommy before the roads get bad.

There was a time in radio when the on air talent realized that there place was to be on the air when the weather is bad to give the latest info you can. I remember sleeping many times at the station not because the roads were too bad to travel but because it was your station's responsibilty to be there for your audience.

There are still some very good an dedicated people in Kenwood. But still this is a company that is drifting. They have a Sports station at 1360 that no cares about. They have destroyed WEBN. WKRC is simply a clone of WLW but lacking local talent other than Brian Thomas in the morning. Remember the experient of putting Pat Barry on in the afternoons? It was not to deliver local talk but a means to be able to play more spots.

Every radio company has to make money. There is a bottom line you have to meet. Still, what happened to the day of programming a radio station to fit the neeeds of the audience and not what coporate says.

That's why I have said it in other postings time and time again that more times than not it is the smaller market operator that really programs to its audience.

Did Amazon bail out early again on Thursday night? The first segment after the 11 o'clock news was a repeat from Wednesday night.

How does he get away with doing this whenever it's bad outside?

Good question. This is a prime example of why radio is rapidly fading into irrelevance.

Really stereolane? It is? Because a part time guy who does a 9 to midnight show stays home? That's one of the more ridiculous things I've read here.

...or maybe he had a family/personal emergency that had to be taken care of. We will never know.

Or maybe His ratings are so bad that he can take off the last hour and no one notices.

as far as I know he always tapes the last hour of his show....I have called to make a comment on the air and the screener always has told me the same thing.

Sorry, but if you go from LIVE to Memorex during severe weather, that is truly WEAK, and an insult to your audience. If the daypart is that unimportant, then why even bother? Put Mark Levin on WLW.
