Cox Media Group has announced that Marc Morgan, Chief Revenue Officer, is retiring.
The reason Morgan was so important to Atlanta radio is that he turned around WSB-AM after becoming GM in 1992. The main moves he made toward that end were hiring Neal Boortz and then hiring PD Greg Moceri.
I had always found it interesting that former Cox Radio CEO Bob Neil always focused on programming, going as far as designing music clocks for stations, which was very unusual for a CEO. The reason he was able to do that is because he had Marc Morgan to run the business side.
