MARC Radio entering Orlando

Multiple reports indicate Gainesville's MARC Radio is buying 1270 WRLZ for 800k, and entering the market dba MARC Radio Orlando. Does anyone know what the plans for the station might be?

Seems in some older threads, it was being speculated that Salem may be looking to sell their stations. Does anyone think more deals are in the works for MARC?

Yes, trying to get some discussions going.

Isn't/wasn't Roger Holler, who owns Marc a car dealer around Orlando? In their last quarterly results release, Salem said they were considering offers on stations but did not reveal what markets, of course. Speculation on the Orlando market has always been only one of their four stations makes money. Their publishing business is on life support as well. The publishing business has an office in Maitland. Now I know there are those here who doubt what I'm saying. That's ok. Just check out their Q4 2018 conference call.

MARC Radio is owned by Roger Holler, who owns the Holler Dealerships, as well as a lot of valuable real estate in Winter Park.

I don't know what he intends to do with a standalone AM without a viable FM translator the Orlando Market. I think there may be more acquisitions coming from Holler in the near future. Maybe a purchase of WNUE or WOTW which are struggling?

From my sources Salem is not selling any of their 50KW sticks with decent translators. 1520 is the only dead horse in their stable. Horrible AM Signal with a CP for a horrible translator.

For the record for those who don't know, MARC Radio in Gainesville owns WHHZ 100.5 The Buzz (I have a friend that works there), WDVH I Am Country 980/94.1/WPLL 106.9, WRZN The Shepherd 720/1430/96.3 and WTMG Magic 101.3

Has MARC taken over 1270? Format?

Generally, one the FCC approves a closing date that is the end of a calendar month is set for the closing. This makes bookkeeping much easier as to expense and revenue allocations, ranging from rent to FICA payments and the like.

I honestly had forgotten about this. It will be interesting to see if they keep this format with the word moving from 950 to 990.

There's no reason for them to change the format because Salem is juggling theirs from one 50KW Station to another. MARC has a religious station called The Sheperd in the Ocala/Gainesville Market, which has several other religious broadcasters in the market including BBN, EMF, Radio Training Network, and others.

There's plenty of room for 2 Religious Preach and Teach stations in the market.

Salem has all the heavy hitter tier 1 ministers on WTLN which are the same broadcasters on MARC Radio's The Shepherd in the Ocala/Gainesville market. Those broadcasters will not but time on a second station in the same market. MARC may consider tier 2 ministry programs not currently on WTLN, or they can focus on local churches which should work fine for 1270. One other option might be non religious time brokered programming.
