March 2013 ratings highlights....Basically

In the ratings book for March 2013, WWJ went from a 9.0 to a 8.2, and it was still enough for them to stay #1. Expect WWJ to rebroadcast Michigan Basketball games in the summer if that's what helped them over hte winter. 104.3, 92.3, 99.5, and 96.3 are the rest of the top 5. 95.5 and 97.1 had no change in their ratings. AMP is still behind 95.5, but showed a little uptick, and no real improvements for Doug and 89x. Finally, CBS Sports Radio 1270? 0.4 and over 100,000 cume audience. Not a lot is expected of that station, but that's not bad. What did you see in this book, if anything?

DOUG-FM remains somewhat weak. It may be a candidate for NASH-FM. Both formats are cheap to run and with the relative popularity of WYCD, it might be worth a try.

WDFN needs to go to a talk format. WXYT-AM got to a 0.7 share doing it, more than three times what 'DFN is posting. They could hardly do worse than they are now.

With two talk shows from 7-11, it wouldn't be much of a stretch to be honest. Problem is how would they program it and would Clear Channel invest in it?

I think any move hinges on Cumulus' intentions to drop CC's syndicated lineup. In Detroit, this would mean a new home for Limbaugh would need to be found.

With that, I think they'd program it as conservative talk, and clear some of the programs that WXYT-AM dropped when they flipped to CBS Sports Radio.

CC would invest only the minimum necessary but I see at least a 2.5 rating if this scenario comes to pass.
