Sorry to nitpick, but the name of the soap opera was "Love Is a Many SPLENDORED Thing"

March 26, 1973: Besides the debut of The Young and the Restless,
CBS unveils The $10,000 Pyramid at 10:30 AM (ET), moving The Price
Is Right to 3 PM. Pyramid is not a monster hit at first; that doesn't
happen until it moves to ABC in the spring of '74. It has proven to
be one of the most durable game shows. I've posted this before, but
CBS's new schedule as of 3/26/73 was (all times Eastern):

10 AM Joker's Wild
10:30 $10,000 Pyramid
11 AM Gambit
11:30 Love Of Life
11:55 CBS News--Douglas Edwards
12 N Young And The Restless
12:30 Search For Tomorrow
1 PM affiliate time
1:30 As The World Turns
2 PM Guiding Light
2:30 Edge Of Night
3 PM Price Is Right
3:30 Hollywood's Talking (remake of the '60s show,
Everybody's Talking)
4 PM Secret Storm

NOTE: Match Game '73 doesn't debut until July.
Tattletales replaces Secret Storm in February 1974.
Also on March 26, 1973, NBC debuted Baffle, which replaced
Concentration. Hosted by Dick Enberg, Baffle was a remake
of the '60s game PDQ, with celebrity-contestant teams trying
to fill in a word one letter at a time and identify the word
in the fastest time. Concentration resurfaced in syndication
that fall, but Lin Bolen's cancellation of the venerable rebus-
puzzle show is considered the first of many mistakes on her part
which led to NBC's falling to third in daytime.
Edited by bpatrick on 03/24/06 10:18 PM.
