March 7: This Day in TV History "DIY"

"DIY" stands for "Do It Yourself..."

Somewhere in the course of events, I accidentally deleted my pre-prepared TDITVH for March 7. (This sort of thing has happened a couple of times before, accounting for a couple of the few days I have missed...)

Frankly, I don't feel like going back and redoing it, so the March 7 TDITVH is officially DIY. ANyone knows of any interesting events on that day, feel free to add them to the thread. ;)

I copped out with some births

It was a good day for the Today Show as Gene Shalit, was born today in 1932 and Willard Scott was born in 1934

1942 - Tammy Faye Bakker, American televangelist (d. 2007)

1942 - Former Disney boss Michael Eisner was born today

1964 - Wanda Sykes, American actress and comedienne

1965 - On this date at KCHU-TV in San Bernardino, Ca., nothing happened. The station had gone dark. 8)

I'm sorry, Stanislav. This is not acceptable. We're going to have to dock your wages for March 7th. ;D

1970 - WXOW TV channel 19 in La Crosse, Wisconsin (ABC) begins broadcasting.

1983 - TNN, The Nashville Network, debuts on cable. It's now Spike TV. :eek: ???

2006 - 6 days after competitor WBNX/55 in Cleveland gained the CW affiliation, WUAB/43 was announced as an affiliate of My Network TV, along with two other Raycom Media-owned stations.
:eek: ::)

Given the current amount of my "wages," the only way you can "dock" me is for me to pay YOU... ;D
