MARCH ARBITRON STATS

A couple of questions here,
1. ....
2. If KLFE picked up most of those hosts that KVI had a week after that station's flip to oldies, why isn't it going anywhere?

KLFE picked up some of the syndicated fare from KVI and has no local hosts or local presence. Plus, they did virtually no marketing. Some users on this message board may be aware of KLFE. But the great mass of consumers/listeners in the Seattle area have never heard of KLFE and have no idea it exists.

If you're going to put a new station on a high frequency on the AM band you can't expect it to be discovered by the public with no marketing.

When was KLSY ever Hot AC? I thought they were always Mainstream AC and the problem was owning two stations with similar formats because Warm was Soft AC or thereabouts. It did seem a little strange. They sacrificed their legacy station instead of switching Warm, which always trailed.

I think the real reson KLSY got blown up is Sandusky realized that with two stations in the AC format genre that there was a chance that both stations might play Kokomo at the same time. Something obviosly had to be done to prevent this. It was determined that Kokomo had a better chance of being played on KLSY. So 92.5 was changed to a format where Kokomo is not played. Luckily the Movin format was just being developed and the rest is History. :D

1590 has always been a problematic signal too. It's spotty in the suburbs and Everett and Tacoma can't hear it at all. Unfortunately, KLFE's target audience is actually in the suburbs and outlying areas and not in Seattle proper where 1590's signal is best.

I still say flip it back to a rock station.......

Wasn't Mix 92.5 a Hot AC switching between gold-based and adult CHR?

This post made me laugh out loud! Thank you for taking the other active conversation and applying it to this one.

KLSY was Hot AC from February 1, 2002 to May 1, 2006, when it went to MOViN. And you're right. Warm started in '92, while KLSY started in '83 or so. It would've made sense to blow up 106.9.

From what I remember, 92.5 was Adult CHR. The gold stuff was left to Warm or (not very often) 98.9.

Hmm, how would you know KS? I do remember they had totally 80s weekends. I always thought KLSY was a better station than KRWM.
