March PPM 6+ overall ratings now up

well all i can say is Uncle Joe helped the sound out, and KXOS, didnt really get a huge bump in ratings!

for the Riverside-San Bernardino market place

KOLA lost some of its luster and KSGN soared from 2.9 in February overall to 4.2 in march, huge gain in rating for KSGN!

i think 4.2 for KSGN overall has been its highest overall rating, I think listeners from KOLA, who were upset with the newer addition of the 90's, flipped to KSGN as KSGN targets the 25 to 54 year old female audience.

In 25-54, KOLA is only off 0.1 from the previous book, and well ahead of the last 4 non-holiday books of 2012.

KSGN is right in its normal level; they simply had an unusually weak February book.

Using the last 4 books of last year as a base, KOLA is up in 25-54, and KSGN is flat.

Why is KLOS listed as AOR? When I turn to them it is a song I have heard many times before. Good to see The Sound ahead of them. And good to see KKGO doing ok. Would like to hear a 50 and 60s station maybe KLAC or KTLK go that way

The demise of KLOS had been slow and steady since Cumulus bought it, but accelerated quickly once Mark and Brian left and a suitable replacement could not be found. KSWD has proven to be a worthy competitor for the last few years and is now definitely on top. The real questions are, have the improvements been just as significant in demo and can they now monetize their new status? I said last year that KLOS should be pressing the panic button; now the should be slamming it with a sledgehammer. The very viability of the station is at stake.

BYW, congratulations to KSWD. I don't agree with everything they do, such as playing vinyl records full of more snaps, crackles, and pops than my morning cereal and calling that sound quality good, and having that ridiculous March Album tournament every year, but they have worked hard to put a quality product on the air, (subject to the natural limitations of a PPM world) and have shown a lot of respect for the music. Listeners have picked up on that and many have made the switch because of it.
