Marcia Brady on DRUGS?

Didn't read the story, but saw the headline on The New York Times.

"Marcia Brady- How I traded Sex for Drugs. "
Maureen Mc Cormack has an autobiography out, and I guess this story must be in there somewhere.

I have heard a few other rumors that aren't too hard to believe, either.

Barry Williams and Florence Henderson? Ewwww.

Where do you think the Brady kids smoked their weed, that room off the kitchen, or out in the garage?
Unlike "That 70's show", the poor kids in Southern California didn't have basements.

I haven't read the 'Marcia Brady' autobio but have read Lauren Chapin's (Father Knows Best). It should be mandatory reading for any stage mother pushing their sweet little thing into show biz.

It's surprising to learn of this, yet it just shows such problems can take place anywhere and to anyone. I always thought Maureen McCormack was cute. Even now, in her TV apperances, she looks good and dresses very fashionable. I once worked with a girl who was close in age and looks to her.

I think Maureen McCormick was on Dr. Phil six or eight months ago, getting ready to pimp her book, and she leaked the "I did drugs" angles back then....

I met Maureen when she was on a tour of radio stations promoting animal/pet charities in about 1992. She was very down to earth and gracious. I am a guy that never really had a crush on Marsha Brady. However after meeting her in person, I got a little crush on Maureen. Sometimes I think these tell all books are just an effort to make a buck. I watched two interviews this morning on TV and believe here when she says she wrote it to help others with life decisions, etc.

Maureen is an attractive lady and seems like a nice person...I wish her well. But come on - a former sit-com child-star (or young adult) who later crashes and burns - getting involved with drugs and illicit sex. Is this really a news-flash to anybody?

It's not hard to figure out why this happens. These people (like rock stars) get successful, receive large disposable incomes, not to mention thousands of fans that idolize them, along with weeks or months of continuous recreational down-time when they're not performing. They get all this at a young age when they're too immature to plan for the future, or realize the consequences of their actions. And in many cases, they have handlers or stage parents who are more interested in the money than in the well being of their kids.

Is the public that voyeuristic, and does the public really want to spend good money just to read this sordid story for the...what...100th time?

Rhetorical question, I realize...

But really who doesn't use drugs. I am probably one of the 12 people in the USA who has never done drugs in his life, I've never even smoked a cigarette but I would bet most people have used drugs sometime in their life.

Was a bit shocked at first until I realized this is a stage of her life that she was not proud of. She wanted to move on with her acting carreer..and for decades wanted to get past her Maria Brady years. She played a mom on the 90s sitcom "Teen Angel" on ABC and she played it well with her natural beauty and cheerfullness...but bullimia?? then gaining weight?? drugs and foolin' around?????

NO!!!!!

I am proud of her for stepping forward an doing something about her inner demons in the age of the tabloidized media with its no holds barred policies of taking famous (and not so famous) people down...yet exhaulting and over-hyping the likes and exploits of Paris Hilton to overkill propotions.

Saw the Today show inteview in which Maureen credits her daughter for telling her' "you got to do this Mom" for the sake of her well being.

I have always been a fan of Maureen. She has come clean and has admitted her wrongs for which I consider commendable. Celebrities are just as human as the "rest of us" and want to be treated as humans....and yes I also had a crush on her as Marcia when I was a teen myself.

We still love you Maureen.
