Marconi winners: WSB-AM and Star 94

WSB-AM, a former legendary station of the year, was crowned large market station of the year by the NAB and given yet another Marconi. And Star 94 won best top 40 station of the year.

Could someone please explain why Washington is a "major" market and Atlanta is a "large" market?

I guess it's because Atlanta used to be #11. Now that it's in the top 10, I guess it will be major next year.

Also, I see that Bill Handel, whose weekend syndicated legal show is carried by WSB, won for Personality of the Year for his KFI morning show.

Exactly, I do believe that Atlanta would be considered A "MAJOR" market.
