Marcus D. to run KBKS!

Congratulations to Marcus D as the new Program Director of KBKS!!! This station has been in a ratings decline for almost two years and Marcus is the perfect guy to turn it around. He knows music, can bring in a morning show that appeals to 18-34 and really challenge KUBE. Mike Preston got close to KUBE about five years ago, but over the last couple of years lost his passion for KBKS as he picked up VP stripes. He is programming oldies where he belongs. The morning show lost its way and the station failed to keep up with the rhythmic sound of today's top 40. Marcus KNOWS this sound. He might even be the answer in mornings as well. Expect KBKS to make a real run for KUBE, especially with MOVIN 92.5 hurting the upper end of KUBE. This could be a real contest. There have been a lot of new programmers added in town, Marcus is the best of this new breed. KBKS may beat KUBE on the younger end and if they follow the game plan of KISS in LA will finish off KPLZ as well. Time for aging PD's Eric Powers and Kent Phillips to follow Preston into PD retirement camp in Oldies. Go Marcus!

It is nice to see someone in town get a chance to program. Please read my thread regarding radio change. It applies to the comments on this thread. Change can be good, but it does not guarantee success. Why must Marcus destroy KUBE and KPLZ. He would be best to focus on making his station consistent and not worry about the competition. I bet KBKS gets some numbers back if Marcus is as good as you say. A better bet is KUBE and KPLZ will continue to be strong as well in their key demos.

Marcus has already said he can beat these two. I will take that bet any day. Marcus beats KUBE 18-34 women and KPLZ 25-54 women in six months...GUARANTEED. He made the guarantee to his staff and you can take his word to the BANK. Be warned KBKS is back.

Another 'finish off KPLZ' post. I think they have mantle in their building dedicated to how many times that has been said.Succinctly stated, I don't think you have any idea what you're talking about.

take it from me....you need re-hab ! :p Kudos to Mr. Najera on the PD chair now lets see what happens when he has his shot. This year will be very interesting to watch between KBKS, KUBE, and MOViN 92.5. I'm gonna enjoy watching this one unfold !
