Would Radio Discussions permit ongoing and persistent posting of links to something for sale? Because that is what a come-on post leading to a paywall is.
Perhaps policy here should be every post with a paywall link shall be posted in a "Marketplace" category.
How would you like it if people ripped off your work that you charged other people money for?

Goes to show that there's two sides to this coin, so to speak.

People want freely accessible information, yet those who are in charge of creating and/or curating that information deserve to be compensated for their efforts.

The point behind my comment was that a gift link should be a gift link. The person providing the link (in this case me) is a paying subscriber. One of the features of the account is the ability to offer 10 gift links a month. This also is a relatively low-risk way for the publication to get exposure for its contents without giving it away altogether. Putting up obstacles to accessing the gift really makes it less than a gift. The Post does not clearly state these obstacles to its subscribers. It's not exactly dishonest but still promises more than it delivers.

I think you misunderstood my post. I am not suggesting there should be a way to see people's work for free, bypassing a paywall.
I suggested that this website might have a way for readers to know a post links to a paywall. That is all.
The idea is why bother reading a post if it leads to a paywall.
