Marilyn out at 95.7?

No longer listed on the website and a recent tweet looks for advice on "flying without a net". Methinks the Beasley ax is a-swingin'

To....what, though? They have now, seemingly, saved yet another cost. Assuming a minimal impact from making mornings mirror the rest of the day, they're now making nice bank for even less money. Is there any realistic hole where a risk/reward comparison would warrant pulling the trigger right now?

Knowing Beasley, they might flip the format it doesn't matter if Ben Fm is making a little revenue. They are looking to make more $$$ in revenues.

EVERYBODY is looking to make more money. That's being a normal business owner and a good steward of the company's investments. But it does matter if there isn't an obvious route to making more money. It may well be that here and now, that is the best revenue generator they have for the cluster they now own. Maybe it won't be in a year, or three or five. But aside from the, um, boom and bust of classic hop hop, there isn't a fad du jour that screams out right now, and being second or third fiddle in another format may not be worth the investment. Ben as is fits will into the cluster, as it did for Greater Media, it's relatively cheap and they can make some Benjamins. Now if someone abandoned a format and left the a wide-open opportunity, then perhaps it would be worth it depending on the circumstances.

Maybe Beasley will bring back Wired?

Why dump a cheap moneymaker to try to split that $$ even further. AMP I'm sure makes money, but why split the Q102/AMP money even further? Ben FM fits well into the cluster, makes money, and is dirt cheap to run.

Another stab at FM talk wouldn't be a horrible idea. Maybe WURD 900 could snag 95.7. However, Ben FM is not going anywhere, and I would not want it to. I truly do love Ben FM. It has a great mix of a lot of lesser remembered hits from the 70s-90s and some great grunge and alt rock from the 90s as well.

IQ 106.9 was full of conservative drivel that no one wanted to hear. It wasn't local talk either, for the most part. FM talk would have to be a bit more liberal and targeted to a younger audience. If we wanted to really do our research and homework, I think we could make an FM talk format work in philly. It works in other markets.

It's not important though. There already is a great local talk station, namely WURD 900.

Lol I know your joking about that hate spewing racist machine called WURD. They are getting an FM translator soon after they pulled some strings with some station up north....

Lol I know your joking about that hate spewing racist machine called WURD.

So, according to you, a Black owned station can't take positions based on their own perspective?

I am only going to say this Heylistentome- first off, no, I won't listen to you. You have your own ill-informed opinions. I have my informed opinions. Yes, I am very left-leaning and would rather listen to their much more authentic programming than that pill popping loser Limbaugh any day. He is a relic of the 90s and it should have stayed that way.

WURD is an amazing station, playing music such as funk and reggae at night and on weekends and some really great (and get this folks) LOCAL talk. They are one of a handful of Philly stations truly targeted to real Philadelphians and I am glad they are on air and got their FM translator, legally too.

I refuse to get political on here. Rather than demonize radio stations based solely on your own political opinion, just look at how others view them and how well they actually do, monetarily and ratings.
