MARINERS BROADCASTER DAVE NIEHAUS HAS DIED

If - and this is a big "if" - IF the Mariners ever win a series in the next, oh - 50 years - I say they vote to give Dave's family a posthumous ring. A modest Niehaus museum or collection of memorabilia (recordings, some video, photos, etc) in a small corner of Safeco would be pretty cool.

Have to believe that if the Mariners make some sort of team Hall of Fame, Ring of Honor or something of that nature, Niehaus would have to be the first person inducted.

Would not hold my breath in the Mariners making it to the show anytime soon.

I would imagine that the Safeco people and the Mariners are working on a lasting tribute to Dave, and I suspect that someplace around the ballpark a statue will be placed where people can take pictures and things.

The Kingdome had a Sports Museum full of items from all the teams who played there... I can't understand why they would lose that and what did they do with all the items if they are no longer on display?

Niehaus field has a good ring to it. I know Safeco has the current rights and I'm pretty sure they were bought by Liberty Mutual, just like WA Mu was picked up by Chase. I wonder why these two
have not changed the names? Even if the right are sold, couldn't the permanent name be Niehaus?

At least the Niehaus terrace.

To me, Niehaus stands alone in Seattle sports brodcasting history.
