Anything on these two landing elsewhere? When you come right down to it with Karen Blake & Fast Freddie still there,Mark Clark at JAMN,& Lady D apparently going to Mix,they're the only two main personalities from Star that haven't shown up anywhere.

I also have to wonder regarding Freddie & Karen still at Mike. I notice they're both doing testimonial type spots almost as if nothing happened & Karen is doing her Mike On Demand prerecorded request bits. I'm sure this provides somewhat of a comfort zone for ex-Star listeners much like putting a ticking clock in a bed with a kitten to trick it into thinking its mother is there. Karen has her own business & Freddie apparently does promotions. I'm glad both have retained an affiliation with the station but wonder how long it will last. If the format is unsuccessful I doubt that it will & the name recognition won't be needed in the long run. If the format tanks, then chances are they'll eventually go anyway.

Any opinions?

Ralphie is doing part time at WBLI in Long Island just to stay tight. He's too good not to be employed somewhere full time!>

The Latest on Star People

I heard the following from a good source

Fast Freddie--in Promotions at Mike
Karen Blake--Production at Mike
Ralphie--working in New York (sounds like the Long Island thing is probably correct)
Mike McGowan--???
Lady D and Frankie Fox--fighting in out for nights at Mix 98.5
Marc Clark--at Jamn

Re: The Latest on Star People

The last I heard of Mike McGowan, he was voicing promos for "NBC 30 Connecticut News" at WVIT-TV (NBC) channel 30 of New Britain/Hartford. (e.g., "Closed Captioning of NBC 30 Connecticut News is sponsored by Big Y.") I haven't heard him doing anything else. I do know that he was a longtime mainstay here in Connecticut on radio. He worked at WKCI-FM 101.3 of Hamden/New Haven ("KC 101") and did PM drive at WKSS-FM 95.7 of Hartford/Meriden ("Kiss 95.7").

Getting back to Boston radio, Deidre Dagatta (sp?) was voicetracked for a time doing middays at WKSS-FM, posing as "Carmen." Does she still work for WJMN-FM 94.5?

Re: The Latest on Star People

She does middays at Kiss 108 now...live in studio, not voice tracked.

I hope it is Lady D taking over Mix nights, when will we be able to know who the new night jock is do you think Tad will announce it before he leaves this week. Also, heard he will be on every weekend which is nice, hopefully at a good time on the radio and not like overnights or early mornings.

The real deal with Lady D...

Before she got hired at Star, she was doing weekends at Mix. When she got hired at Star, she decided to end her tenure at Mix by not showing up for her last shift. Mike will flip back to Star before she ever gets hired at Mix.
______________

I don't know the situation regarding D and Mix, but I know in general, in radio, you don't get to do a last shift. If you give an incling that you are leaving, you are fired immediately and the codes are changed on the access doors. I doubt (but I also reitterate that I'm not familiar with D's particulars) it's as simple "she didn't show up for her last shift"

Re: The real deal with Lady D...

And you know this first hand as fact? Keep in mind that some on this board actually work at some of these stations.

People who work in radio read a radio discussion board? I wouldn't have thought of that.

I wouldn't have posted that if it weren't true.
______________
