Why do programming directors put these tight wire ethnic circuses on the air? If you don't know who Mario-Solis is, gotomario.com and you'll find out he's been a political consultant, public affairs and communications advocate for 14 years... of course listening to his show you'll immediately begin to wonder if any of that tenure has been in the U.S.

He won't go through a sentence without rolling an R, or compressing a suffix with a stereotypical latin edge. He'll tell you the proper way to say Colorado, nevermind that you're hispanic yourself and come from a 3rd generation mexican family in Greeley, it's always pronounced ColoRRRAADO according to Mario-Solis.

And when he says his name it's like he's cocking a 12 gauge, getting ready to fire off another line of cnn inspired, road-tired political conclucions...we've heard it before, yea. But have you heard it from MARRRRIO-SOLIS-MARICH!!

He is the Carlos Mencia of Radio Pundits. Another schill trying to earn a quick dollar with his last name - scratch that - last TWO NAMES, through an industry that's hungry to put whatever P.O.S. ethnic novelty on the air in order to maintain a 'diverse-integrity.' Well so long as...you...graduated college right? Masters? Had a job? No we only hire real professionals never mind that you flub your way through an hour of calls. We need to be able to say "You know he used to work for the Clintons."

He does a "local show" on AM760 in Denver though he lives in L.A. and I dont think has ever been to Denver - though probably has magnet on his fridge to say otherwise. He's also on 1150 AM in Burbank, and if you go to his website won't find any mention of 760...well honestly you can't blame him for that. I think I have a better listenership ratio singing to myself in the shower.

If you're a Denver traffic reporter I'd like to know where? What's wrong the sound of a Hispanic on English radio bother you? With all the problems this biz has this is what you are worried or bugged about? Man, you have too much time on your hands. If I were you I spend more time watching I-25 and less time worrying about how Hispanic someone sounds.

I may have focused to eagerly on the fact that he's hispanic. It's not his ethnicity or race that is bothering me, I should have clarified but it was a very quickly written post.

Mario incorporates EVERYTHING that is wrong with radio. The lack of original content on his show, his absolute lack of experience on the air, WHY should he be on that afternoon slot? Can you think of any other reasons aside from the fact that he's probably cheap, might know a few big names in his professional past...and oh... certainly sounds hispanic on a progressive radio station which otherwise wouldn't have a voice of color, WHICH HE WEARS ON HIS SLEEVE.

I have no problem with any latino taking to the airwaves. I would be an absolute hypachrit. Where I have a problem is when people who don't deserve to be put on the air, or given a slot like that, are. Not because of talent, but because of what "research and marketing" show's might be most appealing. Talent is secondary now a days it's all about the face of the show that matters. Nevermind that you can never scrape together what's necessary to back up the hype, the hype alone will do for now.

I dislike people who try to wear culture on their sleeve and sell it as a novelty. It's not because of who he is jaymarvin, it's because of the parody he's making himself out to be.

Erin Hart would've been a wonderful choice. But Clear Channel wants to have local without the necessary sacrifices in order to make local work.

How does someone measure if another person should be on the radio or not? We all have things we like and don't like. I don't hear what you hear. Niether does Kris Olinger, I would guess. So you have a right to feel like you do, but it sounds to me like your jealous you didn't get the gig. Who knows how much Mario makes? What does it matter? The only thing that matters in the end is what Kris thinks because she's the one who makes the calls. There are a lot of people I hear on the air, and don't get why their there. So what? Doesn't mean I'm right. Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Then again it's not up to me just like it's not up to you. By the way where do you do traffic? Maybe we're in the same place? Maybe you should march right in to Kris' office and tell her what you think?

That is why these boards exsist. For the buzz of the worker-bee's. Woe the Queen should hear the buzz and find out which bee it wuzz, he would be flying without a honeycomb to return.

No jealousy here, I'm far off from being a Talk Show Host. And why can't I descry his position? Whatever happened to having a healthy back and forth instead of immediately jumping to: 'SHUT THE HELL UP, YOU'RE NOT THE ONE MAKING THE DECISIONS.'

I can guess why she made them and so can you. But in the end all we have is the bread on our plate and and not enough salt on our beans. So let's talk about that instead.

You don't have to shut up. I never said you did. I just do not agree with you. I don't think he is everything that is wrong with radio. Point out to me what he does that's wrong? I don't think he is wearing his culture on his sleeve. He's being who he is. What's wrong with that? What's wrong with his content? He is doing the stories of the day and he takes one view point and that's what talk radio is all about. How do you know about his track record and work record? He's on the air in LA as well. I'd say that 's pretty good. I mean if you look at your first post it's an out and out attack on him, and it's BS.
