I recognized the name when I saw it in the obituaries this morning, but I couldn't quite place it.
Hadn't she been an author of some sort? An environmental advocate of some sort, perhaps?
A Rachel Carson, or maybe Rosalie Bertell?
Ayn Rand or Michelle Makin would have been a better guess.
It all came back when I read her obituary.
She had been the author of innumerable editorials on WNAK, many of which
contended that the Communists were at the door, and about to take over!
At the time they all sounded so "over the top"; a relic of the post WW2 days when
people were building fallout shelters in the backyard, anticipating a Soviet invasion.
Once in a blue moon she would surprise me with an editorial I would actually agree with.
She was certainly Bob Neilson's favorite news columnist.
"Marion was also in charge of a radio segment called "Hymn Time".
Well God bless her. I have to say that was one of WNAK's best features, imho.
Her funeral is on Wednesday. May she rest in peace.
