I heard some buzz today that 3WS may be looking for a new PD.

I guess the new joke at CC Pittsburgh is they're being called "DVE Lite"

Isn't he also Regional VP/Programming for the whole CC-Pittsburgh cluster?

I believe Gene Romano still holds that job. By the way, check this ...

http://www.clearchannel.com/Radio/Search/Default.aspx

Type in "Pittsburgh" and check the results, especially for WPGB.

Getting damn "G"s screwed up. They're both rock guys, and both protect DVE like it's Fort Knox.

WPGB: Well Rush does sometimes play some Barry White :)

WXDX: Adult Alternative? C'mon...I know rock genres are made up, but you'd think the largest radio ownership group in America could get the difference between what The X plays and what WYEP plays.

Also, apparently CC doesn't put alot of priority on their website maintenance.

Doesn't that refer to the fact that the listernership of WXDX are the same people who used to listen to it in the 90's? It was teen alternative when its listeners were teens, and now that they're twentysomethings, doesn't that make it "adult" alternative? And if they're still playing the same songs and artists to the same listeners when those listeners are in their forties, then won't it be called "classic alternative"?

To my knowledge, no.

Greg's predecessor, Dave Labrozzi was 3WS PD and the RVP. Greg's title, as far as I know, is just PD of 3WS and Fox 970.

He was brought in about the time K-Rock went on the air, and spent time heling DVE during the early part of his time there. I'd imagine that role may have diminished after Stern announced his intentions.

Romano is a National VP of rock programming, who chooses to live in Pittsburgh, and is still the final word on DVE<P ID="signature">______________

..and?

Anyone care to speculate as to who is replacing him?

Ironically, Michael Hayes and Jason Kidd are both available. Both had huge success at 'KST.

Michael Hayes had success at KST?

Re: ..and?

If either Jason Kidd or Michael Hayes had success at Kiss, neither would have been let go prematurely. Hayes was not deft with talent, and Kidd was in way over his head.

i would say tht KISS turned it around once Kidd was there. If i remember right, and i may be wrong..i think Kidd left on his own to go back to Baltimore. I thought KISS was better during his time, and would be interested to see what would happen/how it would sound if he returned.

i think Hayes left on his own too. but remember Mix and the River...i would not be surprised if you didnt.

Re: ..and?

Kidd's run at 'KST was when they sounded best IMHO. The imaging, jocks, music, jingles - top to bottom they sounded pretty strong.

Anderson's? The absolute worst. Hayes may have had them overly-voicetracked, but I'll take voicetracked Randi West and Tone E Fly over live Scotty and "Bonics" any day of the week. Another example that live & local doesn't always equal better in every situation.

100 Percent Correct.

Re: ..and?

"Kidd's run at 'KST was when they sounded best IMHO. The imaging, jocks, music, jingles - top to bottom they sounded pretty strong. "
Kidd was fired!

I love this. How "out of touch" do you have to be to think that Anderson's Kiss sounded the worst? This is the problem with "radio guys"

Kiss has NEVER had more listeners, ratings, billing and passion from the listeners for the station then it does now.

The sad thing is all of the "radio guys" are so deep in it, they don't even know what female listers want anymore. They are too busy trying to sound strong and impress other radio people. If a CHR station sounds weird to you, then it's doing its job.

CHR Radio is not for "radio guys." It's for women 18-34. PERIOD.
These are the facts. Any replys to this post... will be wrong.
