Mark Cuban's network

...good Dish.

From the article:

The rebranded network is scheduled to debut this summer -- the aim is June -- and the partners have reached a deal with Dish Network to expand its distribution. HDNet is currently on the satellite provider's HD tier, but as part of the new deal a standard definition version of the network is being created and will be included on Dish's America's Top 120 programming package.

Very good Dish.

:)

I hear Seacrest is also going to start hosting a video version of his weekly radio countdown show - also called "Dish's America's Top 120". ::)

Will Dan Rather still anchor the HDNet News???

They've stated that Dan Rather will still be on after the rebranding. He'll continue his series of documentaries, but will not be hosting the entertainment news shows that will apparently make up a fair chunk of the AXS schedule.

Okay, the article states that the MMA and Kickboxing will stay... that's the most comforting statement and not really a surprise since Mark Cuban is a huge fan of combat sports. He made HDNet the first network to provide combat sports a real home in North America.

Now what about Girls Gone Wild, Bikini Destinations, and Art Mann Presents? Will they be forced to "censor" these shows due to Seacrest's younger demographics? Don't be messing with the good programming on HDNet, unless they are going to launch a separate HDNET Fights network to complement the new Ryan Seacrest network. I know someone else has launched "Fight Now TV" but it still has extremely limited distribution and is relying on European and Canadian fights along with some "Pro 'Rasslin" for it's programming. The "Good" fights are still either promoted by the UFC on Fox networks or carried by Cuban on HDNet.
I WAS paying $5/month for HDNet through Mediacom. They dropped the channel all together and now I get it as part of the basic package on UVerse.

Now I'm wondering what they have planned for the rare HDNet Movies network that has already been dropped my most North American cable systems. I'd rather see HDNet Movies re-branded for the new Seacrest network while re-branding the original HDNet as a combat sports network while keeping the "Girls Gone Wild" type programming as a filler overnights.

Seems kinda funny that they will offer an SDTV version of HDNet. Wasn't HD what it was created for?
