Mark Curtis

Random Phoenix TV thoughts:
Switched to KPNX Channel 12 for a couple of days for different coverage of the Doce Fire. Mark Curtis is a very skilled news anchor. Curtis was solo, as Lin Sue must be vacationing?

I recall Curtis doing KPNX Sports and Sean McLaughlin, now KPHO Ch. 5 news anchor, would get the toss to do the Ch. 12 weather...

Most recently, our house has watched CBS 5, for news; with KTVK News 3 a close second. :-X

Curtis looks like his eyesight is failing with those thick coke bottles he wears now.

And doesn't the new set with the homeless people and passing traffic behind the anchors bother you? I find myself focusing upon something in the background and completely missing the story. I never liked NBC's morning show from Noo Yawk for that same reason - all the touristas out in the plaza.

Didn't the Today Show recently announce that they were going to eliminate the "plaza" segments. Something about Matt Lauer being paranoid after being taunted, after he played a key role in the dumping of Ann Curry.

That said, 12 News' outdoor shot doesn't bother me that much.

Mark Curtis = Ron Burgundy.

I will never take anything they say seriously while some idiot is jumping up and down behind them with his tongue sticking out. It is not news; it is the epitome of "info-tainment."

I also will NEVER watch again after seeing their intrepid moronic reporter Lisette Hernandez running after Arias Juror # Whatever like a trained monkey, following him onto the light rail, sticking her mic in his face, with no regard whatsoever for his privacy, or humanity. I can only hope that someday someone treats her or her family in the same embarrassing manner.

It DOES NOT say in the Constitution of our country that any juror owes anything to the media. When you become a juror, you don't sign something that says, "I owe it to the media/or the public to disclose my private thoughts/decisions." The local media should be ashamed of themselves...but of course, they won't ever be, because they lost what little morality they ever had years ago.

"The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers."

@detroit -- Why the contempt for Mark Curtis? CBS5 has a meteorologist as main anchor. KTVK has Patti, who jumped the shark years ago. ABC15 has Katie Raml who wears lipstick well, but that's about it. Fox 10 has John and Kari, who seem to be more interested in commenting about the news. Come to think of it, it's not like we have much to choose from. ;D

It sure would be nice to have a serious newscast with trained JOURNALISTS!

Hmm..how can you tell Mark's eyesight is failing? I realize news people are open to comments about their persona, but he just wears glasses. Is that bad? Just sayin.

Maybe I should have used "appears" instead of "looks". I wear glasses too and I know my eyesight is failing - at least nearsight is getting worse.

I wasn't picking on Mark. Been watching him for years. It was just a BTW......
