Mark Davis - KSKY's Answer

How about some specifics, like demos and dayparts? A jump of 36% could translate to tiny increases in tenths of points from their perennially anemic ratings.

KSKY went from a 0.4 in June to a 0.7 in October in the PPM data I saw posted. Seems like that would be a 75% increase.
KSKY was trailing KLIF and now has higher ratings than KLIF. WBAP remains the undisputed ratings leader among talk stations.
One could argue that so far this situation has worked out well for WBAP, KSKY and Mark Davis.

Mark is probably getting paid more than WBAP was offering, but not as much as he was making under his old deal at WBAP.
WBAP has saved money by paying Mark's replacement a lot less than Mark was making, but still maintaining fairly good numbers.
KSKY has grabbed a big local name and grown in the ratings while making a significant investment in Mark. It's possible KSKY is already making a profit on their investment, but who knows.

A few years ago, Salem signed away Curtis Sliwa to host the local morning show on their New York station. And so far, a host that had for years received high ratings in morning drive on WABC is getting next to nothing in not one, but two daily shifts on WNYM. They might need a better "answer" at this point...
