Mark Edwards celebrates 600th Sock Hop Saturday Night

Posted here because Mark started his Sock Hop Saturday Night show on Bridgeport's AM 600 WICC and had quite a following. The show now airs on Eastern Long Island's WLNG FM 92.1 which can be heard through much of southeastern CT.

Mark Edwards will be celebrating his 600th show of his Sock Hop Saturday Night on September 23rd. They are planning a live remote from the Southampton Elks lodge. Sounds like a fun event. I don't think this is his 600th show on WLNG, as he has only been there a few years. It likely counts all the shows he did on WICC for all those years as well. Still, 600 shows is a lot of shows.

It's a shame he's no longer on WICC. He had a unique show that was well executed and actually fun to listen to. I'm glad he landed at WLNG as it sounds like he's been pretty successful. I hope he continues the tradition long after the 600th show.

My congrats to Mark Edwards and his 600th SHSN. But you know I'm wondeirng if there will be any irony in his voice and perhaps wanting to take a dig at Cumulus Media. After all, WICC is 600 on the dial as mentioned and it can be picked up on Long Island. So things could get interesting come 9/23.

And in terms of the program, it's unique, as is the staiton its carried on. There is no other station of its kind in the Tri-State are of NYC or along Long Island like WLNG 92.1.

That is so true! I remember when I first discovered WLNG in the 70's - it sounds the same as today! Great community service and a super example of what local community radio should be. Mark has a good home for his show.
