Mark Edwards Wake Up America was ahead of its time

The Wake Up America show which ended last August when KDWN changed owners was really ahead of its time,Illegal imigration has spread across most of this country in recent months and has gotten more attention in some areas than ongoing situation in Iraq. Has become hot button issue in local and national political campaigns. Beasley seems to have seen the errors of its ways in dropping all local talk as it appears to be bringing local shows back slowly. In my opinion Mark Levin and Clark Howard do nothing for the station as radios shut off or change stations after Savage signs off. It would be a great time to bring back a show that would focus on this national crisis. If Jim Dallas is still around put him on. Truman Hawkins also is back home and has worked for this ownership before and was too young to retire See if he would be also be interested. Its your move KDWN on situation that affects people of all ages.

Really? Mark Levin's show is the fastest growing syndicated show at the moment and typically does well wherever he's on. And Clark Howard also does well where aired.

The reason Levins show is growing is due to the pressure ABC puts on local stations that if you want Hannity you must also pick up Levin. How KDWN picks up Levin while not airing Hannity baffles me.
 
ABC probably wishes more stations picked up Levins show without being pressured. Still think KDWN would be better with live local talk in this slot with the station trying to positon itself as THE local news weather and traffic authorty
 
"Wake Up America" was not ahead of its time. It was a cranky old rearguard show like most of the stuff on the old KDWN. Immigration is only a hot button issue with a relatively small segment of the population. It actually divides rather than unites conservatives -- making it a wedge issue and not good fodder for a conservative talker. That's why none of the national shows are all-immigration, all the time.

Here's a great line from a thread below about Heidi Harris about KDWN..

When a caller tried to talk about immigration, Heidi informed him that "K-DAWN is no longer the all anti-immigration all the time station"..

KDWN may be treading water 12-plus, but I suspect they're showing improvement in demos...
