Mark Fuhrman on Fox

Fox has Mark Fuhrman on camera on the Texas coast with Geraldo, talking about the logistics of disaster recovery, arming of police to maintain control, et al. Fuhrman was a cop, emerging into the spotlight during the OJ case, but have to wonder about his suitability to be a Fox "police analyst" in the wake of a natural disaster. Security and safety are absolutely necessary under such conditions, but not sure about Fuhrman's suitability to talk about it on Fox, or elsewhere.

Authorities along the coastal target area wisely have brought in massive numbers of state troopers, guardsmen, and other enforcement/rescue personnel (even from out of state including Oklahoma and Kentucky), but one questions Fox seizing on the large police presence to extend its coverage to having Mark Fuhrman pontificating on how these officers and troops should be equipped and doing their jobs. It could be said Fuhrman had his chance in LA in the 90s and blew it. Now Fox is setting him up as an authority telling experienced personnel in the disaster area how to do their jobs.

That's my take on it. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not. Any others?

He's a regular on Fox, especially during the Terry Schiavo controversy when he was speculating that Mr. Schiavo was abusing his wife, which he based on research he did for one of his books.

In fact, Fuhrman's career has been as a crime author/researcher post-OJ. He has shown up on a few Court TV crime shows, but is a far better fit with the "law and order" sensationalism on Fox News. He tried to find his way in with the America's Most Wanted group, but John Walsh hates him.

Interestingly, I never see anyone remind viewers that he's THAT Mark Fuhrman and provide viewers with some info about his background baggage.

Fuhrman is just another one of the colorful commentators the national media relies on. Imus loves Bo Dietl, CNN had Greta until she went to Fox, Marsha Clark still turns up from time to time, etc.
