Mark, Kevin, and Frank drop the "Hammer" on a caller

So this morning I'm listening to the Wake Up stooges as I like to call them (cause the guys always take numerous shots at each other, much like Larry, Moe, Curly, Curly Joe, and Shemp) right after the words "Brokeback Mountain" come out of a caller's mouth, which it was an appropriate time to do so if it were Rome, I hear the "buzzer"! To a clone like me, I think it's a cardinal sin when the "buzzer" makes an appearance elsewhere, but at the same time the moment when it was used was classic! Although plagarism is illegal, radio personalities get away with it all the time, so I guess it's okay for them to use it without getting sued. All I want to know is this: does Premiere/Fox Sports Radio give the affiliates the buzzer or do they have to get it themselves?

I agree it humored me a bit but I wish they wouldn't rip off Rome. There is only one Rome and they need to come up with something of their own. I know those guys can do it, it is just a matter of doing it. All because it works for one host doesn't mean it will work for another. Also when you do that you invite callers like Rome's, who have written takes and begins to get old after a while. I have been listening to Rome since 1996 and I don't need to hear the show twice a day. So Wake Up Zone, I love your show but be original and stop being lazy come up with something new. Also don't have the same shows every week mix in a couple guests outside the norm. The show becomes so predictable and I believe it restricts the team's capabilities.

NEWSFLASH! WORLD HISTORY DID NOT BEGIN WHEN YOU GUYS WERE BORN IN THE '80s!

TONS of radio stations have used the sound effect of a buzzer, even years before Romie was born, much less sat down to a mic. Hitting a buzzer for when someone gave the wrong answer goes back to the days of radio game shows in the '20s and '30s, and before that, when there were live competitions without benefit of electronic media. And no I wasn't there to see it firsthand, but it would do both of you guys good to go back and study some radio history if you want to work in the medium.

Sheesh!

Actually, this is just one more example of why Rome's act is tired, oh so tired. (I have to admit, though, I like Jet's "Wake-Up Stooges" name.)

Re: NEWSFLAH! Re: Mark, Kevin, and Frank drop the "Hammer" on a caller

NEWSFLAH!----Nice----I am well aware buzzers have been used in the past, but they were not used for the same reason Rome uses it. It is radio, everything has been done at least once. My problem is a show that lacks creativity. They do the same thing every week. It would be one thing if their guests were interesting but they are not. I don't tune in to the show to listen to Booker talk about college basketball. I want more of Kevin, Frank and Mark. They are a three man team that has a guest every other segment. They should not want to be like Rome but better than Rome. Lack of competition hurts the Wake Up Zone from becoming better.

Ok so we can all see that you do not know what you are talking about! Beat WWTN, WLAC, WNFN, WNSR. In the talk field The Zone is number 1 in the am. What are you talking about?

The Zone #1 talk station in the mornings? What planet are you on? They don't even come close to Steve Gill.

So sorry, spew, you'll have to go back and look again. The Wake-Up Stooges overtook Gill three books ago.
