Mark Larsen Fill-in on WFLA AM Tampa Bay

The combo of Jack, Tedd and Cory seems to be working well. Cory has brought some needed "newness" to the show for sure. Moving on to Mark Larsen. When he fills in as a solo on the afternoon show, he does a good job overall. But in the morning I find him to be grating and irritating to my ears. He seems to be in an attack mode in his presentation, way above the intensity level of Tedd and Cory. In fact, he reminds me of an old 1966 "Boss Jock" trying to do talk radio. Mark, I know you surf around on this board. Don't take this personally because I don't know you and it isn't a personal attack on your sound. In fact, I just gave you a 100% when you work solo. But aircheck yourself when you work the mornings and measure your intensity against the other talent, and you'll hear, hopefully, what I am talking about. On the scale of 10, YOU decide where Tedd and Cory are, and where you think you are. I think they reside at a 6. You are at a 10-plus. Drop your energy level down a bit, stop talking "at" the audience and talk "to" them. Just an old consultant's read on your air performance. You didn't hire me for a critique so no charge for this consult.

Rock on! ;D

I agree that Corey has brought a younger variable to the table. Pardon the pun, but for someone previously playing 80's records for years, she proves that she gets the point. ;)

The hottest local twin day part in Tampa Bay Radio was the 5a-1p from 94-96. AMTB followed by Mark ("Dark") Larsen, (Mark, the sky is falling, Larsen)(The poor man's Rush), and Don Richard's Noon Report.

But time moves on...

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!
